Introducing JUEMON: A Fusion of Japanese and French Fragrance Culture

JUEMON: The New Eau de Toilette by Koju

In celebration of its remarkable 450-year history, Koju, a renowned Japanese fragrance house, is set to launch a groundbreaking eau de toilette named JUEMON on January 30. This innovative fragrance line beautifully marries the aromatic traditions of Japan and France, presenting a refreshing take on modern perfumery.

A Celebration of Two Cultures

The creation of JUEMON is rooted in the concept of merging Japanese and French olfactory artistry. Utilizing the rich heritage of incense-making that Koju has perfected over centuries, JUEMON incorporates sophisticated elements from traditional French perfume culture. This blend results in fragrances that are not only contemporary but also deeply reflective of Koju's dedication to craft.

The Stories Behind JUEMON

JUEMON comprises eight unique scents, each inspired by a color and crafted to evoke distinct narratives. By emphasizing both fragrance and color, KOJU encourages wearers to connect emotionally and visually with their chosen scent. This imaginative approach enables a vivid exploration of the fragrances, ensuring they resonate with a diverse range of personalities and preferences.

Crafted by a Renowned Perfumer

The creator of JUEMON, Naomi Hirano, is an esteemed Japanese perfumer known for her extensive experience and profound understanding of fragrance's impact on human emotions and memories. After completing her studies at the ISIPCA perfume school in France, she spent 23 years crafting scents at Takasago International Corporation. Following her tenure, she joined Japan Kodo Co., Ltd., where she continues to meld tradition with innovation in home and personal fragrances. Hirano is also an author; her book, The Power of Scent, delves into the intricate connections between aroma and human experiences.

A Closer Look at the Eight Scents

Each of the eight varieties within the JUEMON line brings something unique:

  • - BLEU (Blue): A musky and floral blend featuring fresh, clean white musk balanced with sandalwood.
  • - BLANC (White): An elegant floral aroma highlighted by sweet daphne and citrus notes, encapsulated with soft musk.
  • - ROUGE (Red): A sophisticated floral-scented perfume combining jasmine, violet, and earthy notes for an alluring profile.
  • - VERT (Green): A refreshing scent that mirrors the essence of nature, featuring green ginger and floral sweetness.
  • - JAUNE (Yellow): A bright perfume that harmonizes citrus and floral tones with a musky background.
  • - OR (Gold): An exclusive scent that combines warm sandalwood with a delicate floral and powdery sweetness, available only in select locations.
