Rivasta Introduces Innovative Digital Feature for Construction Site Safety
In a significant move towards enhancing safety in the construction industry, Rivasta Co., Ltd. has announced the development of a new feature for its site management service, Buildee. This feature, named Buildee Electronic KY (tentative), focuses on digitizing the management of hazard prediction activities—commonly referred to as KY activities—which aim to prevent workplace accidents. This innovative addition promises to streamline the daily safety operations of contractors, reducing the burden of paperwork involved in tracking these activities.
The Need for Digitalization in Safety Management
According to data from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, as reported in May 2025, the construction sector accounts for about 30% of all workplace fatalities across various industries. Such alarming statistics underline the urgent need for effective safety measures. The ministry has set a goal in its 14th Labour Accident Prevention Plan to reduce the number of fatalities in construction by at least 15% by 2027 compared to 2022 levels. This legislative focus highlights the critical nature of implementing comprehensive safety protocols in construction practices.
To comply with regulations, construction sites conduct daily KY activities, which typically rely on paper documents for recording and tracking safety measures. In many cases, there's a cumbersome process where thousands of paper forms must be printed, signed, shared, and stored, leading to operational inefficiencies and increased risks of loss or damage. Recognizing these challenges, Rivasta's new feature aims to convert these processes into a digital format, providing a seamless way to manage safety records without the traditional overhead.
Overview of Buildee Electronic KY Feature
The Buildee Electronic KY feature will enable contractors to efficiently record safety activities via smartphones, linking them to scheduled operations outlined in Buildee's meeting management system. Participants and activity details can be documented digitally, allowing easy access and oversight from computers. All data will be securely stored in the cloud, facilitating streamlined access and reducing physical document-related burdens.
Moreover, this new feature will synchronize with Buildee's access management system, which keeps track of workers entering and exiting sites. This integration will ensure better accuracy and reliability of participant information, thereby enhancing the overall safety management process.
Additionally, contractors will have the flexibility to customize risk evaluation criteria and confirmatory measures according to their specific operational requirements, further promoting a tailored approach to workplace safety.
Demonstrations of this new feature will be available at Rivasta's exhibition booth during the 5th Construction DX Expo, part of the 10th Japan Build Tokyo event, scheduled for December 10-12, 2025. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the entire range of operational functionalities, from conducting KY activities to data management.
Future Directions: Improving Safety Management with Technology
The Buildee Electronic KY feature is set to launch in spring 2026. Rivasta continues to invest in its platform to enhance the efficiency of safety management in construction, striving to amplify productivity while maintaining rigorous safety standards on worksites.
