Edward Rito Takes Leadership Role at UTI-Miramar
Introduction
The Universal Technical Institute (UTI), a cornerstone in technical education, proudly announced the appointment of Edward Rito as the new Campus President of UTI-Miramar. This well-deserved role comes as UTI seeks to enhance its educational offerings in South Florida, solidifying its commitment to provide students with the tools necessary for success in high-demand careers.
Extensive Background in Education
Bringing over 22 years of leadership experience, Rito's diverse background spans across post-secondary education, healthcare, and technology sectors. His service as a U.S. Army veteran enriches his profile, showcasing his commitment to discipline and leadership. Before his new position, Rito played pivotal roles at Education Affiliates, ECPI University, and Antonelli College, leading initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes and operational effectiveness.
Tracy Lorenz, the President of UTI Division, spoke highly of Rito's appointment, stating, "His leadership is defined by a clear focus on student success and operational excellence. His depth of experience in technical education makes him the right fit to guide UTI-Miramar's continued growth and foster a strong, high-performing campus community."
Vision for UTI-Miramar
In his new role, Rito expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I'm honored to join UTI-Miramar and lead a campus that plays such an important role in preparing students for in-demand careers. I look forward to working alongside our talented staff and faculty to ensure students have the education, support, and opportunities they need to succeed."
Campus Facilities and Offerings
Located in a state-of-the-art facility that spans 103,000 square feet, UTI-Miramar opened its doors in 2022. The campus features 22 specialized classrooms and laboratories tailored to provide a hands-on learning experience. Offering programs in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Welding Technology, and Airframe Powerplant education, UTI-Miramar next plans to introduce an HVACR Technician program. Notably, the campus also provides a BMW FastTrack Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training program. Through this initiative, qualified students can earn BMW factory credentials and an associate-level certification, thus enhancing their employability.
Partnerships for Student Success
UTI-Miramar partners with leading employers such as Hendrick Auto Group, Sunbelt Rentals, Morgan Auto Group, Rush Truck Centers, and TravelCenters of America. These partnerships ensure practical exposure and training for students. Many of these organizations actively participate in UTI's Student Early Employment Program, allowing students to earn while they learn—a major advantage as they transition into their careers.
