Royal Copenhagen Celebrates 250 Years of Craftsmanship
This year, the prestigious Danish brand
Royal Copenhagen proudly celebrates its 250th anniversary, marking a remarkable journey that began in 1775. With its roots deeply entrenched in tradition, the brand is now set to unveil its latest store in Marunouchi, Tokyo, making it the first Royal Copenhagen outlet in Japan since the opening of its flagship store in 1967.
A New Concept Store in Marunouchi
The new store, located on the third floor of the
Shin-Marunouchi Building, showcases a modern interpretation of Royal Copenhagen’s renowned craftsmanship and design ethos. Visitors are greeted by an iconic display wall adorned with plates, mirroring the flagship store in Copenhagen and creating a beautiful, refined atmosphere that reflects over two centuries of art and history.
Royal Copenhagen continues to provide tableware exquisitely painted by skilled artisans. Their latest glass collection,
Aurora, will also debut in this new location, ahead of its release in December at other stores. This eco-friendly line features lead-free crystal glasses, delicately crafted by Slovenian artisans using traditional mouth-blowing techniques.
The Aurora Glass Collection
The Aurora collection introduces three types of glasses: champagne coupes, wine glasses, and water glasses, each designed with details that resonate with Royal Copenhagen's legacy of craftsmanship. The glasses not only serve aesthetic purposes but also harmonize beautifully with the brand's signature porcelain, elevating dining experiences and celebrations alike.
With distinct features inspired by classic pieces, such as the fluted patterns reminiscent of shells, these glasses encapsulate the essence of Royal Copenhagen’s design philosophy. Each glass proudly showcases the crown mark at the base, symbolizing the brand’s royal heritage and commitment to quality.
Bespoke Service for a Unique Experience
To celebrate the grand opening, a special service called
Bespoke will be available for a limited time. This unique offering allows customers to have their names hand-painted inside cups by skilled artisans, creating one-of-a-kind pieces perfect for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, or milestones in life.
In addition to bespoke items, the store will host an array of special items released to commemorate the 250th anniversary and offer back-issues of the iconic annual plates created since 1908.
Shopping at this new Royal Copenhagen location promises to be a delightful experience, enveloped in the brand’s world of craftsmanship and aesthetics. Customers can expect to add beauty and sophistication to their everyday lives, especially in the upcoming festive Christmas season.
As part of the launch celebration, customers making purchases over 16,500 JPY will receive a limited-edition original hand-dyed tenugui towel crafted by Japanese artisans, highlighting traditional dyeing techniques and enhancing the shopping experience.
