Lowe's Invites Communities to Submit Project Nominations for Hometowns Initiative

Lowe's is excited to announce the launch of its latest Hometowns initiative, which encourages communities across the nation to participate by nominating deserving projects for funding. The company is prepared to invest a total of $10 million in grants this year, aiming to support local improvements that uplift and enhance community spaces. This initiative builds on Lowe's five-year, $100 million commitment aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods and fostering strong community ties.

From now until February 18, individuals and organizations can submit nominations for projects that benefit their communities or non-profit organizations by visiting Lowes.com/Hometowns. This year, Lowe's aims to fund 100 renovation projects and complete around 1,700 improvements that have been selected by Lowe’s associates. The impact of these projects is expected to be significant, benefiting over 500,000 individuals within a year after the completion of the Lowe's Hometowns initiatives.

In previous years, Lowe's has already helped transform communities significantly. For example, last year the company assisted in the expansion of a safe housing community for veterans in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and renovated a fire department's kitchen in Scotland, Connecticut. These projects exemplify Lowe's commitment to supporting local heroes and enhancing community welfare.

Marvin Ellison, President and CEO of Lowe's, emphasized the importance of community engagement, stating, "Helping our neighbors and communities is what Lowe's does best. In the past three years, Lowe's Hometowns has inspired thousands of community improvement projects nationwide, driven by our associates' problem-solving abilities and dedication to making things happen. I am excited to see the difference we will make in 2025 and beyond!"

Lowe's has positioned itself uniquely to create a substantial impact. Utilizing the DIY expertise of its associates and deep-rooted community relationships, alongside an extensive network of professionals and a wide assortment of products, the Hometowns initiative is set to inspire and facilitate impactful enhancements to local spaces.

The types of projects eligible for funding include renovations of safe and affordable housing facilities, community resources like senior centers and food pantries, public outdoor spaces such as parks and playgrounds, cultural conservation efforts including theaters and memorials, and facilities dedicated to teaching skilled trades.

Jennifer Sirangelo, CEO of Points of Light, Lowe's trusted partner in executing the community impact, stated, "Communities have urgent needs for investment and volunteers nationwide. Lowe's empowers communities to bring their vision for improvements to life through the Lowe's Hometowns program. The grants and volunteer associates support locally identified projects, addressing critical deficiencies and creating positive, sustainable change."
