Ginza Taya Celebrates 120 Years with a Special Collection
Ginza Taya, a distinguished retailer based in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo, has announced a remarkable milestone in its history: the celebration of its 120th anniversary. To commemorate this special occasion, Ginza Taya has collaborated with Shinya Tasaki, one of Japan's most revered sommeliers, to launch an exclusive collection known as 'Vintage 120'. This collection includes not just ties, but also innovative scarf ties that demonstrate the depth of creativity inherent in the world of fine fashion and wine.
The Theme: A 120-Year Journey
The narrative behind the 'Vintage 120' collection is inspired by the concept of wine vintages. Shinya Tasaki conceptualized this unique idea by referencing his own vintage chart of Bordeaux wines, linking it to notable years of Ginza Taya's history from 1905 to 2025. Tasaki explains, "The theme is 120 years. I've illustrated the excellent years in the history of Taya using numerical designs based on my Bordeaux vintage chart."
The design incorporates a five-point grading system where certain years receive a score represented by colored bottle labels. For example, the year 2024, still in development, features a barrel design, whereas the year 2025, celebrating their 120th anniversary, showcases a grape motif. This clever design reflects Tasaki's expertise and brings the wine world into the realm of fashion.
Elegance for Every Occasion
The unique connection between wine and ties/scarf ties lies in their ability to be the centerpiece of a look or play a supporting role. The 'Vintage 120' collection invites wearers to appreciate these pieces as essential components of stylish attire. Whether elevating an outfit for a formal event or adding a touch of sophistication to casual attire, the 'Vintage 120' ties and scarves exemplify versatility and chicness.
