Yerba Madre Dedicates $100,000 to U.S. National Parks and Advocates for America the Beautiful Act
Yerba Madre Dedicates $100,000 to National Parks
In an inspiring move to celebrate Earth Month, Yerba Madre, a leading name in the yerba mate beverage sector, has committed to donating $100,000 to the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). This initiative coincides with the company’s broader campaign urging Congress to pass the America the Beautiful Act, a legislative measure designed to allocate billions for the repair and maintenance of America’s national parks and public lands.
This significant funding comes at a critical time, as federal investment for park maintenance faces uncertainty. Yerba Madre’s activation focuses on addressing urgent needs, such as the deterioration of roads and outdated water systems, which have escalated due to environmental pressures and a backlog of maintenance projects.
Throughout April, Yerba Madre invites members of its community and supporters nationwide to voice their support for the America the Beautiful Act through the NPCA’s action alert. This allows constituents to directly contact their elected officials, underlining the importance of protecting the nation’s cherished parks and public lands.
Tiernan Sittenfeld, the president and CEO of NPCA, stated, “Six years ago, the nation united to push for funds to repair our national parks, and Congress responded. This dedicated funding enabled the National Park Service to complete over 560 priority repair projects across the country, enhancing critical infrastructure. Unfortunately, that funding has ceased, yet many maintenance needs remain. We are proud to partner with Yerba Madre and park advocates nationwide to renew this investment.”
Yerba Madre’s $100,000 pledge is the cornerstone of a larger Earth Month activation, showcasing their commitment to environmental regeneration for three decades. In line with this initiative, the brand is set to launch the campaign titled “Drink Yerba, Plant a Tree”, which promises to fund the restoration of a native tree for every can purchased. Their ambitious goal is to plant 50,000 native trees throughout the month.
On Earth Day, Yerba Madre plans to distribute 500,000 free cans nationwide through loyalty apps of participating retailers like Circle K and 7-Eleven. This marks a significant milestone, as it will also be the first time the company's Regenerative Organic Certified® seal appears on their original unsweetened yerba mate cans.
Emily Kortlang, Yerba Madre’s marketing director, remarked, “Earth Month is an opportunity to further engage with our community. Regeneration has shaped our company for thirty years, and in April, we invite our supporters to champion public lands and choose products that give back. The more yerba mate we share, the more restoration we can achieve within the systems we all rely on.”
In addition to these initiatives, this announcement signifies the national launch of the world’s first canned Regenerative Organic Certified® yerba mate, starting with their original unsweetened variety. This follows the introduction of a sustainably sourced loose-leaf yerba mate earlier this year.
