Unveiling The New American Home 2026
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has revealed the remarkable details of its flagship show home for the International Builders' Show (IBS). The New American Home® 2026, located in Winter Park, Florida, stands as a beacon of innovation while supporting significant community causes. Produced alongside the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council and Professional Builder magazine, this home is a testament to cutting-edge residential design and construction trends.
A Home Built for a Cause
The 2026 edition of The New American Home is especially significant as it is the first to be built for a specific purpose and homeowner. Jason Eichenholz, Ph.D., is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded Jonathan's Landing, and he will be the homeowner. Inspired by his son Jonathan, who lives with autism, Eichenholz is leveraging his platform to achieve his vision of creating a purpose-driven community through the Jonathan's Landing Foundation. He has pledged to match every dollar contributed by manufacturers and suppliers to enhance housing and job opportunities for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
"This home isn't just a showcase of the future of home building—it's a symbol of what's possible when passion, philanthropy, and innovation come together," said Eichenholz. His commitment extends beyond construction as The New American Home will also serve as a platform for other meaningful charities, solidifying its impact on the community.
An Innovative Design
Encompassing an impressive 7,414 square feet of livable space, the home includes six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and luxurious features such as a private entrance for catering events, an infinity-edge pool overlooking a lake, and a wellness suite in the basement. For car enthusiasts, there's an 18-car underground garage equipped with a car elevator, while entertaining spaces like a game room and theater promise endless enjoyment.
Built within strict energy efficiency standards, the home will include energy-efficient materials like cast-in-place concrete basement walls and light gauge metal framing. Architects Michael Wenrich and design consultants from Steele Street Studios and Two Trails are spearheading efforts to obtain top green certifications, aiming for notable credentials such as NGBS Emerald and ENERGY STAR.
A Landmark Journey for Alair Homes
Alair Homes is set to take center stage as the first national builder involved in The New American Home program, which seeks to push industry boundaries every year. Daniel Kennerly and Jim Krantz from Alair Homes Orlando are overseeing the home’s construction, marking a significant milestone in the company's journey as they transition from Orlando to Las Vegas for future builds.
"Being the first national builder for The New American Home is an incredible honor. This project isn't just about home building—it's about making a real, meaningful impact in the community," explained Kennerly. Jim Krantz added a personal touch, sharing that his connection to the mission strengthens the home's significance: "Knowing that Jonathan's Landing provides a place for adults like my son to thrive with dignity brings me hope. This home supports that mission."
