Zeon and JCCL Collaborate on CO₂ Capture Technology

This collaboration aims to advance the development and practical application of a low-cost and highly efficient CO₂ separation and recovery technology. The joint development contract focuses on enhancing the performance of CO₂ absorbents developed by JCCL, scaling up production techniques, and creating larger CO₂ separation and recovery systems.

JCCL focuses on reducing global CO₂ emissions by manufacturing high-performance CO₂ absorbents and designing cost-effective CO₂ recovery systems. A unique feature of their CO₂ recovery systems is the ability to easily detach and recover CO₂ that has been efficiently absorbed using only low-temperature steam at 40 to 60 degrees Celsius. This capability not only enables the effective utilization of unused waste heat but also allows for CO₂ recovery using low-pressure steam, which helps reduce thermal energy consumption and the overall costs associated with CO₂ capture.

By combining JCCL's comprehensive technological base—from material development to performance evaluation and equipment design—with the advanced material design and mass production capabilities that Zeon has honed as a polymer design company, this partnership aims to accelerate the development of CO₂ separation and capture products. The ultimate goal is to achieve early societal implementation of these products.
