Shue Guitars: Malaysia’s Boutique Brand Launches in Japan

Shue Guitars Makes Its Japanese Debut

On February 11th, 2023, Yamano Music, based in Ginza, Tokyo, will begin selling the Malaysian boutique guitar brand, Shue Guitars. This marks the brand's first entry into the Japanese market, and five select stores including Ginza's 4F Ginza Guitar Garden, Soundcrew Kichijoji, Kashiwa, Rock Inn Namba, and Nishinomiya Gardens will carry these exquisite instruments, with plans for further expansion to additional retailers.

About Shue Guitars

Founded in Kuala Lumpur, Shue Guitars prides itself on its handmade craftsmanship and precision. The brand was established in 2019 by Ray Akira, a seasoned guitarist and builder who previously owned a guitar repair shop named "The Guitar Hospital." Ray’s extensive experience in both performance and guitar repairs has driven the creation of Shue Guitars, enabling him to utilize his skills and knowledge to create a brand that stands out among global high-end boutique guitar makers.

Shue Guitars has garnered significant attention worldwide despite its relatively small size, as it is committed to producing high-quality guitars, truly reflecting its manufacturer’s artistry.

Advantages of Shue Guitars

Handcrafted Excellence

With a manufacturing team of just 12 skilled artisans, every guitar is meticulously handcrafted. The use of premium Malaysian wood allows for an impressive finish and sound quality, meeting the expectations of professional musicians while maintaining an exceptional cost-performance ratio in the high-end guitar market.

Premium Materials

Malaysia, with its lush forests covering half the country, provides a rich array of quality wood options. Shue Guitars predominantly uses Jelutong wood (Dyera costulata) for the bodies of its guitars, noted for its superb acoustic properties, and Malaysian Blackwood (Melanoxylon) for the fingerboards. The unique grain patterns and resonant tones of these woods contribute significantly to the distinct sound quality characteristic of Shue Guitars. The brand collaborates closely with the Malaysian Forest Research Institute (FRIM) to ensure sustainable wood sourcing, reflecting their commitment to environmental conservation.

Proprietary Hardware and Design

Shue Guitars develops its own hardware, including pickups and tuners, emphasizing durability and sound quality. Their proprietary pickups are designed for the discerning player, delivering a tone that is notably distinct from that of other brands.
