Okayama University Hosts Third Graders from Tsushima Elementary School
On November 20, 2025, approximately 60 third-grade students from Tsushima Elementary School, located in the northern district of Okayama City, embarked on an educational exploration visit to the Tsushima Campus of Okayama University. This event aimed to deepen their understanding of local history and culture through direct interaction with the university's rich heritage.
During their visit, the students had the opportunity to tour the old administrative building, which once served as the headquarters for the 17th Army Division during the Imperial era. This historical structure not only holds significant architectural value but also narrates the story of the region's past. As part of the tour, the students listened attentively to President Nasuhoyuu, who made an unexpected appearance to engage with the children, explaining the building's historical context and its role during its operational period.
In a delightful surprise, President Nasuhoyuu presented each child with a message card featuring the emblem of a 'Gakucho Necktie', symbolizing their connection to the university. The students, enthusiastic about learning, expressed their amazement at the rich history encapsulated within the university's walls.
The visit provided a vital opportunity for these young learners to immerse themselves in the local culture while expanding their perspectives on the historical significance of educational institutions in their community. The faculty members at Okayama University hope that such interactions foster a sense of appreciation for the cultural abundance that surrounds them.
