RWE Energizes Texas with Stoneridge Solar Project, Transforming Local Energy Landscape

RWE Energizes Texas with Stoneridge Solar Project

In a substantial move towards renewable energy, RWE has announced the completion of the Stoneridge Solar Project in Milam County, Texas. This ambitious initiative adds 200 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity along with 100 MW of battery storage. Designed to meet the growing energy demands of the region, the Stoneridge project will enhance Texas's energy grid, providing a reliable and cost-effective electricity supply that is crucial for the state's ongoing development.

Andrew Flanagan, the CEO of RWE Clean Energy, emphasized the essence of local partnerships and how such energy projects act as catalysts for economic growth. He stated, "Stoneridge Solar is a great example of the power of local partnership and the positive role energy projects play in economic stimulation. We are helping Texas and the nation secure their energy future with scalable, homegrown energy while also delivering meaningful benefits to communities across America's heartland."

A critical aspect of this project is the job creation it fosters. With over 200 construction jobs generated during the project’s build-out, Stoneridge now sustains permanent operational roles, directly contributing to economic growth in the vicinity. Moreover, the initiative is projected to yield millions in tax revenue for Milam County, significantly benefiting the local school district and first responders.

The tax revenue generated by the project will enhance public services, contributing to renovations at the Thorndale Elementary School and supporting the local volunteer fire department. Shannon Morrison, the Principal of Thorndale Elementary, expressed gratitude for RWE’s contribution, stating, “RWE's kindness and support are making a big difference for our students, and we appreciate you more than words can say.” This reflects RWE's commitment to not just energy provision but also investing in the communities that host their projects.

The Stoneridge Solar Project is a testament to RWE’s dedication to accelerating energy independence across the United States. With a robust energy capacity exceeding 11 gigawatts (GW), RWE plays a significant role in the renewable energy landscape, aligning its operations with the country’s long-term goals of energy reliability and affordability.

RWE Clean Energy is recognized as the third largest renewable energy provider in the U.S., providing operational assets across most states. The workforce, comprised of approximately 2,000 employees, places RWE in a prime position to address the nation’s increasing energy requirements, fostering a renaissance in American manufacturing while focusing on creating high-quality jobs.

In addition to solar innovation, RWE is actively making strides in the energy trading domain and serves as a major purchaser of American liquefied natural gas (LNG), further solidifying its commitment to the U.S. energy sector. With over 125 years of experience in energy markets, RWE is adept in managing various power generation and storage technologies, ensuring a pathway to a cleaner energy future.

As the nation looks to achieve greater energy independence, RWE's Stoneridge Solar Project stands as a significant milestone, reinforcing the importance of homegrown energy solutions while giving back to local communities. With this innovative approach, Texas is set to flourish, moving towards a sustainable and economically robust future.
