EMASS and Semtech Partner to Launch Innovative Low-Power Edge AI Solutions

EMASS and Semtech Collaboration: A New Era of Low-Power Edge AI

In a groundbreaking announcement, EMASS, a subsidiary of Nanoveu, has unveiled a strategic partnership with Semtech to develop low-power edge AI solutions. This collaboration leverages Semtech's advanced LoRaWAN® connectivity with EMASS's ECS-DoT AI-enabled system-on-chips (SoCs). The integration is poised to redefine the landscape of industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications, enabling efficient processing and real-time decision-making in environments with limited power.

Advancements in Edge AI Technology

The ECS-DoT system-on-chip incorporates Semtech's renowned LoRa® transceivers, enhancing its capabilities in various connected applications. By processing data locally, the ECS-DoT can effectively reduce network load and facilitate actionable insights without relying heavily on constant external connectivity. This is especially beneficial in power-constrained scenarios, such as remote industrial sites or battery-operated devices, where traditional solutions may falter.

Mark Goranson, CEO of EMASS, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "Combining ECS-DoT's on-device AI with Semtech's LoRaWAN connectivity enables autonomous sensing in environments where traditional solutions can't operate - from remote industrial sites to battery-powered security devices. By processing data locally and transmitting only meaningful events, this integration extends battery life and enables real-time decision-making at the edge."

On the other hand, Shahar Feldman, Semtech's senior director of wireless ICs product marketing, reiterated the significance of their partnership. He noted, "LoRa transceivers extend the reach of always-on edge AI sensors to environments where traditional connectivity solutions can't operate or scale effectively. Working with EMASS allows us to deliver practical solutions that equip engineers with the tools to implement autonomous sensing at scale."

Demonstrating Real-World Applications at CES 2026

As part of their collaborative effort, EMASS and Semtech will showcase reference designs at CES 2026, illustrating practical applications of their integrated technology. Among the proposed demonstrations are:

1. Predictive Maintenance Demo

The ECS-DoT edge AI, in conjunction with Semtech's LR1121 LoRa transceiver, will analyze data from vibration and environmental sensors on-device. It will transmit equipment health indicators over LoRaWAN to a centralized dashboard, exemplifying ultra-efficient and scalable monitoring for industrial settings.

2. Security Detection Demo

The ECS-DoT will carry out real-time audio classification, using Semtech's LR1121 to relay alerts over LoRaWAN for critical acoustic events, including glass breaks and gunshots. This delivers prompt and reliable detection solutions for modern security devices.

Attendees interested in exploring these innovative demonstrations can visit select locations at CES, including the Semtech Suite (Murano 3201A, Venetian), the LoRa Alliance Booth (North Hall, Stand 10349), and EMASS's Venetian Suite.
