The real estate sector is witnessing a significant shift as organizations increasingly turn to generative AI technology. A recent survey conducted by Ielove GROUP, specializing in digital transformation for real estate companies, sheds light on the current state of generative AI adoption within the industry.

Background of the Survey


With the rise of generative AI and chatbots, there is a growing interest in utilizing these technologies for various real estate functions, including content creation and client interactions. However, concerns regarding the accuracy of AI-generated information and the handling of sensitive customer data remain a barrier to broader adoption. The survey included responses from 186 real estate companies and 757 end-users, totaling 943 valid responses, aimed at uncovering these insights.

Key Findings from the Survey



1. Most Desired Automations


When asked which tasks they would like to automate through generative AI, the majority (15.7%) of real estate companies indicated that they wish to automate the creation of property descriptions for rentals and sales. Other notable areas included advertising copy creation (14.1%) and replying to inquiry emails (13.7%). Although property description creation was the most mentioned task, there were no significant variances among the different tasks.

The biggest concern about implementing generative AI was the accuracy of responses and generated content, with 34.8% of respondents highlighting this issue. Other concerns included costs associated with implementation and operation (19.8%), along with the risk of leaking client or confidential information (7.5%). As generative AI technology continues to improve, there exists an ongoing concern regarding the precision of generated content, underlining the necessity for real estate professionals to understand the tools they are using.

2. Mixed Reactions from End-Users


End-users provided varied opinions when questioned about their willingness to use generative AI for property inquiries and descriptions. Approximately half of respondents expressed a desire to utilize these services, with 18.8% indicating "very willing" and another 37.0% leaning towards "somewhat willing." However, the opposing sentiment was also substantial, with 31.8% indicating they are "not very willing" and 12.4% stating they "do not want to use it at all."

Furthermore, when asked if they had ever experienced automated responses or explanations using chatbots or generative AI during their initial inquiries or property evaluations, an overwhelming majority (86.5%) replied that they had no such experience, further indicating that while technology is evolving, adoption in direct customer interactions remains limited.

In open-ended responses, several concerns emerged, particularly relating to the accuracy of information provided by these AI tools. About 29.7% of respondents expressed anxiety about the likelihood of receiving incorrect information. Concerns about the safe handling of personal information also surfaced, with 19.9% indicating uneasiness in this area. Furthermore, respondents noted that relying solely on generative AI for consulting was not ideal for addressing their needs effectively.

3. Adoption Rates Among Real Estate Companies


Interestingly, only 20.4% of real estate companies participating in the survey reported that they had already adopted generative AI within their operations. In contrast, 25.3% mentioned they have conceptual plans in place, but have yet to implement them, while an alarming 29.0% responded that they are not considering any AI tools at this time.

Companies that provided feedback about their reluctance to adopt AI indicated concerns about the accuracy of generated content and high operational costs as key barriers to implementation.
