Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute Hosts Global Symposium on Complex Heart Rhythm Disorders

Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute Hosts EPLive 2026

The Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute (TCAI) at St. David's Medical Center is preparing to host its eighth international symposium, EPLive 2026, dedicated to the complex world of heart rhythm disorders. Scheduled for May 28-29, 2026, this biennial event gathers leading experts in cardiac electrophysiology, making it a focal point for education and collaboration in the field.

EPLive 2026 is known for its intense two-day format, designed for healthcare professionals including doctors, advanced practice nurses, and allied healthcare professionals interested in the management of challenging heart rhythm conditions characterized by irregular or abnormal heart beats. The symposium will showcase live clinical cases, providing an engaging learning experience complemented by expert commentary from some of the foremost minds in the field.

Dr. Andrea Natale, a prominent electrophysiologist and executive medical director of TCAI, has emphasized the value of EPLive as a unique opportunity for the global electrophysiological community. Participants will take part in real-time learning through complex case studies which illustrate the latest advancements in cardiac care. By combining live procedures with expert discussions, the symposium aims to deliver a practical and valuable experience that healthcare professionals can directly apply to improve patient outcomes globally.

One of the key focuses of this year's conference is the integrated approach to treating heart rhythm disorders, particularly atrial fibrillation (AF). This symposium will present an enhanced procedure that combines two therapies—Atrial Fibrillation ablation and Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO)—in a single patient intervention. This strategy represents a significant development, especially for patients at heightened risk of stroke. By addressing both the irregular heartbeat and the common source of stroke risk simultaneously, physicians can reduce the need for multiple interventions, thereby shortening procedure durations and minimizing complications, leading to safer and more effective patient care.

EPLive 2026 will feature four distinct session tracks, examining AF ablation cases, ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation, left atrial appendage closure, and cutting-edge medical devices. Each session will include a combination of live-streamed cases and pre-recorded segments from TCAI and leading electrophysiology centers around the world, including renowned institutions from Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Italy, and the United States.

The conference will also concentrate on several objectives aimed at enhancing patient care, including:
- Identifying processes that reduce complications and promote patient safety during AF ablation and other rhythm procedures.
- Presenting the latest scientific evidence and guidelines for the management and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias utilizing new technologies.
- Discussing best practices for optimizing treatment outcomes with the application of these new technologies.
- Highlighting processes where the incorporation of new technologies can be beneficial, and promoting safer procedural practices for patients.
- Addressing strategies to minimize complications and enhance safety measures during complex cardiac device implantations and lead extractions.

Alongside Dr. Natale, other esteemed participants from TCAI will include course directors Dr. Amin Al-Ahmad, Dr. Luigi DiBiase, and Dr. Dhanunjaya ‘DJ’ Lakkireddy, along with various notable speakers who will share their expertise during the event.

Attending physicians will have the opportunity to accrue up to 14.5 hours of credit towards the American Medical Association’s Physician's Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 Credit™.

TCAI boasts one of the most advanced robotic electrophysiology centers in North America, spanning approximately 6700 square feet and opened in 2019, comprising six electrophysiology laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technologies to treat complex heart rhythm disorders. The institute's distinguished team of physicians represents one of the largest electrophysiology practices in the United States, ensuring unmatched expertise and exceptional care for patients.
