Mountain West Small Business Finance (MWSBF) has named Spencer Davis as its new Chief Executive Officer and Danny Mangum as President and Chief Operating Officer. This pivotal change was announced on October 30, 2025, during the Q3 Board Meeting, marking a significant evolution in the company’s leadership.

Exciting Times Ahead



The announcement has created a wave of excitement within the organization, especially considering the current economic uncertainties. Shelly Johnson, the chair of the MWSBF Board and director of lending at ZIFI, expressed her confidence in the new leadership team, stating, "Spencer and Danny have been change-makers in Mountain West's culture and key players in the company's growth and success for more than a decade. Both Davis and Mangum bring over 12 years of combined leadership experience to their new roles, alongside 40 years of service at MWSBF. Davis started his career in the company as an administrative employee back in 1996. He was promoted to Vice President and Loan Officer in 2005, and subsequently became the Senior Vice President and Senior Lending Officer by 2019. On the other hand, Mangum joined MWSBF in 2010 as a credit analyst and worked his way up to Vice President and Loan Officer, eventually being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2019.

Proven Impact on Small Business Growth



During their tenure as loan officers, both Davis and Mangum significantly impacted small businesses in the region. Together, they were responsible for over 770 Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loan approvals, totaling an impressive $566 million in debentures. Their efforts have led to the creation and retention of over 19,000 jobs, showcasing their commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and supporting local economies.
