Mine City and Forest Adventure Forge Comprehensive Partnership for Sustainable Tourism

Comprehensive Partnership between Mine City and Forest Adventure

On September 1, 2026, a significant agreement was reached between Mine City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and Forest Adventure Co., Ltd., a company based in Shibuya, Tokyo. This partnership will not only pave the way for future collaborations but also marks the unveiling of a new adventure park, the "Forest Adventure Akiyoshidai," scheduled to open in March 2027.

Mine City has gained international recognition as it encompasses the UNESCO-designated Mine Akiyoshidai Geopark, a region celebrated for its natural beauty and geological significance. The new adventure park will be strategically located within the Akiyoshidai Family Travel Village, close to the stunning Akiyoshidai plateau and Akiyoshido cave.

The introduction of the Forest Adventure Akiyoshidai is expected to attract both individual visitors and school groups, further increasing tourism flow into Mine City. As a new activity hub, it will contribute significantly to showcasing the region’s unique charm and natural treasures, enhancing the local economy.

Statements from City and Company Leaders

The Mayor of Mine City, Shinoda, expressed his admiration for Forest Adventure’s commitment to developing outdoor parks that promote nature conservation. He emphasized that Mine City is dedicated to sustainable tourism that focuses on both preservation and utilization of natural resources. This collaboration aims to bring greater visibility to the region's attractions to both domestic and international audiences.

Shinoda also acknowledged the challenges of achieving effective tourism development solely through administrative means, highlighting the importance of leveraging Forest Adventure’s experience and expertise to collectively enhance the region's appeal.

Masaki Takawa, the CEO of Forest Adventure, remarked that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of their first facility. Over these two decades, Forest Adventure has focused on creating outdoor parks that harmonize with nature, a vision that aligns closely with the mayor's concept of "preservation and utilization." Takawa expressed optimism for fruitful collaboration with the people of Mine City, aiming to enhance the region's allure through a collective effort.
