Nikken Total Sourcing Honored with Ministerial Award
Nikken Total Sourcing Co., Ltd., based in Ota City, Tokyo, has been awarded the prestigious "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award for Vocational Competence Development" for the fiscal year 2023. This recognition highlights the company's commitment to developing human resources through certified vocational training. The award ceremony took place on November 18 at the Meiji Memorial Hall in Minato, Tokyo, where the company's President, Koji Shimizu, was in attendance.
Significance of the Award
The Ministerial Award for Vocational Competence Development is an esteemed recognition granted to organizations that have made significant contributions to the implementation of certified vocational training and skill testing over the years. It seeks to acknowledge exemplary organizations or individuals in this field. The primary aim of the award is to enhance the skill levels and statuses of skilled workers while cultivating and securing skilled professionals for future generations, thereby passing on their exceptional skills to the next cohort of workers.
In 2023, Nikken Total Sourcing's Nagoya Tech Center, located in Nakagawa Ward, Nagoya, was recognized as an exceptional certified vocational training institution for its outstanding training implementation in Aichi Prefecture. This accolade further solidified its selection for the Ministerial Award, based on the evaluation of its training initiatives.
Insight into Nagoya Tech Center
Nikken Total Sourcing has been a pioneer in the industry, having established its in-house training facility, the "Techno Center". This initiative supports the cultivation of technicians adept in equipment maintenance across a national scale, with nine facilities established to date. The Nagoya Tech Center was inaugurated in September 2017 and achieved certification as a vocational training school specializing in equipment maintenance in December 2018.
At this center, programs are predominantly aimed at inexperienced participants, offering standard maintenance training sessions primarily in mechanical and electrical disciplines. Comprehensive curriculums cover essential topics such as moral conduct in the workplace, safety training, mechanical aspects (including drawing, bearings, lubrication, etc.), and electrical knowledge (focusing on basic principles, measurement instruments, motors, PLC control, etc.). Participants are equipped with practical skills necessary to become proficient equipment maintenance engineers through a blend of theoretical lessons and hands-on experience.
Additionally, the annexed training room for engineers is equipped with advanced tools like 3D CAD (CATIA V5) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD). This enables students to grasp the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and design specifications while mastering various basic operations related to CATIA V5, including sketching, surface, solid modeling, assembly, and drawing operations. Furthermore, tailored practical workshops align with the needs of working environments, allowing for an adaptable training experience.
Nikken Total Sourcing’s commitment to developing engineering talent stems from nearly two decades of dedicated training efforts coupled with the invaluable experience and expertise of instructors who have actively contributed to the industry. The combination of these elements ensures the generation of highly skilled individuals poised to make immediate contributions in the workplace.
