Taiwan Introduces Evidence-Based Traditional Chinese Medicine at CPHI Frankfurt 2025

Taiwan Showcases Evidence-Based TCM at CPHI Frankfurt 2025

Taiwan's healthcare system has been recognized globally, dubbed the best in the 2024 CEOWORLD Magazine Health Care Index. This accolade highlights the unique blend of modern medical practices with traditional healing methods, particularly Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). At the upcoming CPHI Frankfurt 2025, running from October 28 to 30, Taiwan will present its TCM pavilion, showcasing a variety of innovative health solutions that marry centuries-old herbal wisdom with modern scientific validation.

The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research spearheads this initiative, which aims to demonstrate the effectiveness and worldwide relevance of TCM. A central feature of Taiwan's TCM innovation is its catalogue of products, including the notable NRICM series developed by the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine (NRICM). These products, designed for diseases like COVID-19, dementia, and stroke recovery, exemplify evidence-based TCM, showing significant success during their market introduction, especially amid the pandemic.

Among the key players in producing these landmark products is Chuang Song Zong, a company steeped in 150 years of history, which manufactures NRICM101 and exports it to regional markets, including Singapore and Thailand. They also offer a range of classical TCM products in markets like Switzerland. Additionally, there's a growing trend in customized TCM products, as companies adapt traditional remedies to meet the needs of contemporary health concerns.

Another major player, Li Kang Biotech, actively promotes NRICM101 and NRICM201 globally, supplying a diverse selection of teas, herbal granules, dietary supplements, and topical remedies. Their commitment to quality is evident as they adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) while expanding their international reach through Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) partnerships.

Timing Pharmaceutical, a notable manufacturer of NRICM101, reflects on the efforts made during the pandemic, stating, “We worked tirelessly as part of the national team to meet the urgent needs of our community and abroad.” Today, they add innovative products such as K-Cup herbal capsules and topical sprays to their offerings, illustrating their dedication to modernizing traditional remedies.

Furthermore, Taiwan Three Mast specializes in pain relief, providing functional herbal tablets and water-based medicinal patches that modernize traditional health solutions for everyday use. Grape King Bio combines TCM-based herbal formulas with biotechnology-driven mushroom innovations to create nutraceuticals aimed at bolstering immunity and metabolism.

Dr. Yi-Chang Su, Director of the Department of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy at Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare, emphasizes Taiwan's commitment to integrating traditional practices within modern healthcare. He remarked, “Taiwan has shown how traditional medicine can complement modern healthcare when backed by scientific evidence.”

The TCM Pavilion in Frankfurt will not just be a showcase of products but also a hub for product demonstrations and business meetings throughout the exhibition. It will invite healthcare professionals, distributors, and potential partners to engage and explore the promising future of evidence-based TCM.

In conclusion, Taiwan's participation in CPHI Frankfurt 2025 embodies a proactive approach in bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern healthcare, solidifying its role in the global health landscape.
