Leica Gallery Boston Presents "Days Go By…"
Leica Gallery Boston, a hub for contemporary photography, is thrilled to announce the opening of its latest exhibition titled "Days Go By…". This duo exhibition features the compelling works of two rising stars in the photography world: Sara Messinger and Adali Schell. The opening night is scheduled for October 23rd, and the exhibition will be on display until January 3rd, 2027.
A Journey Through Photographic Storytelling
"Days Go By…" captures the essence of the fleeting transitional moments between adolescence and adulthood. Through their individual lenses, Messinger and Schell document the complexities and nuances of this critical phase of life, all while utilizing the renowned M-System analog cameras produced by Leica.
Sara Messinger focuses her work on the exploration of adolescent experiences, capturing candid moments of teenagers in various public settings, particularly parks where they engage in social activities away from their usual environments. Her archival pigment prints, masterfully produced by Whitewall, highlight the joyous yet turbulent essence of growing up. In contrast,
Adali Schell takes us on a personal journey through his adolescent years, emphasizing the importance of the car as a symbol of newfound independence and connection. His vibrant chromogenic prints are hand-printed and framed by him, reflecting a deep personal investment in his work and the experiences it encapsulates.
Despite their different geographic locations—Messinger based in New York and Schell in Los Angeles—their work resonates with shared themes of intimacy, uncertainty, and personal growth. The exhibition builds a narrative that not only tells their individual stories but connects them through the universal experience of growing up, where each photograph serves as a moment of self-discovery.
Artist Reception and Talk
To celebrate the opening of this insightful exhibition, Leica Gallery Boston will host a reception on October 23rd from 6 PM to 8 PM, inviting art enthusiasts and the community to experience the visual stories presented by Messinger and Schell firsthand. Additionally, an Artist Talk will be held on the following day, October 24th, from 12 PM to 2 PM, providing an opportunity for deeper engagement with the artists themselves.
This exhibition not only highlights the impressive talents of these next-generation photographers but also reaffirms Leica Gallery Boston’s commitment to demonstrating the power of visual storytelling. By showcasing the work of emerging artists, the gallery is helping to sustain the connection between the rich heritage of Leica’s photographic legacy and modern-day storytelling techniques.
