JA Mitsui Lease and Tonami Satellite TV Launch EV Project

On September 19, 2025, Tonami Satellite TV Co., Ltd., headquartered in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, announced the commencement of a joint demonstration experiment aimed at electrifying corporate vehicles in collaboration with JA Mitsui Lease Co., Ltd. and JA Mitsui Lease Auto Co., Ltd., both located in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable community development.

Background and Purpose

As a local communication infrastructure provider, Tonami Satellite TV is dedicated to minimizing its environmental footprint through innovative practices. The participation in this demonstration experiment is aligned with the company's Positive Impact Finance (PIF) goals, specifically focusing on analyzing driving data from company vehicles to optimize their usage and explore plans for transitioning from Hybrid Vehicles (HV) to Electric Vehicles (EV).

JA Mitsui Lease Group has a history of supporting clients with financial assistance and solutions for transitioning to HVs and EVs, contributing to a decarbonized society. This collaborative project aims to address challenges faced by Tonami Satellite TV through effective proposals and solutions.

Overview of the Demonstration Experiment

The experiment is a joint project involving JA Mitsui Lease Group and Fujitsu Ltd., headquartered in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. It will include the installation of telematics devices in 25 company vehicles owned by Tonami Satellite TV and its group company, TST Tech Co., Ltd. Over a period of approximately two months, data on travel distances and operational statuses will be collected.

This collected data will be analyzed using the 'Software Defined Vehicle' service developed by Fujitsu, which aims to realize a sustainable, safe, and convenient mobility society. The analysis will enable specific simulations regarding suitable EV models and the number required, infrastructure for charging, and optimal charging times, providing visibility into CO2 emission reductions and economic viability compared to gasoline vehicles.

Through this demonstration experiment, Tonami Satellite TV plans to concretize its future corporate vehicle EV introduction. Furthermore, it will share analytical data with Hokuriku Electric Power Company to collaboratively assess the introduction of optimal EV models and charging stations, considering the specific characteristics of the Hokuriku region. This initiative aims to accelerate the reduction of CO2 emissions in business operations while enhancing environmentally responsible management. Tonami is devoted to contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society and to being a trusted entity within its community.
