Sega's Official Puyo Puyo Tournament Schedule 2026
Sega, a prominent player in the gaming industry, has released the annual schedule for its official Puyo Puyo tournaments for this year. As the ninth year of its eSports initiative, Sega continues to expand its Puyo Puyo eSports scene, demonstrating its commitment to fostering competitive gaming.
The highlight of the announcement is the
Puyo Puyo Global Ranking Series 2026, which is set to follow the success of last year’s events. The first tournament of this series, titled
Puyo Puyo Global Ranking Series 2026 SEGA Official Tournament #1, will take place on
May 30, 2026, with entries opening in early May. More updates will be shared soon.
Additionally, the series will conclude with the
Puyo Puyo Grand Prix Finals, a marquee event where the annual champion will be crowned. New this year is the
Puyo Puyo Ranking Pro Challenge Match, aimed at elevating the competitive scene within Japan. This tournament will create a serious platform for both professional and amateur players to showcase their skills.
What is the Puyo Puyo Ranking Pro Challenge Match?
The
Puyo Puyo Ranking Pro Challenge Match is designed to further develop the competitive landscape of Puyo Puyo, providing opportunities for emerging talents and elevating the scene to the next level. It will take place between
December 1, 2025, and January 24, 2027, with only the top 16 players from the general ranking and professional players without a Grand Prix Final spot eligible to compete.
Qualifiers will be held online on
February 13, 2027, with the top four players advancing to the finals held at the
Seaga headquarters in Oosaki on the same day as the Grand Prix Finals in March. The top two players from this match will earn spots in the
Puyo Puyo Grand Prix Finals, along with additional rights. Should a general player from the qualifiers be ranked in the top positions, they may also battle for a chance to receive the
Japan eSports Professional License from the Japanese eSports Association (JESU).
