A New Stage Adaptation of Miyuki Miyabe's Tales by Naoko Watanabe and the Former Takarazuka Star

A Unique Theatrical Experience

In a remarkable collaboration, the celebrated voice actress Naoko Watanabe, known for her role as Tamako in "Chibi Maruko-chan," teams up with former Takarazuka theater star Tomomasa Ozuki to present a stage adaptation of renowned author Miyuki Miyabe’s short stories. This innovative production, titled "NAO-SORA PRODUCE Vol.2 – Narration-Drama from Miyuki Miyabe’s 'Phantom Color Edo Calendar,'" will take place on September 4, 2025, at Roppongi Claps in Tokyo.

The Essence of Edo Through Story and Music

This adaptation aims to encapsulate the rich tapestry of Edo's atmosphere through evocative storytelling and live music. The two performers bring their unique talents to the stage: Watanabe with her expressive voice and Ozuki with his vibrant stage presence. Together, alongside the musical contributions of singer Rion Ayase and guitarist Masaki Mori, they will transport the audience into the heart of Edo's streets, breathing life into Miyabe's characters and setting.

The direction and script are crafted by Sho Sato, ensuring that the intimate nature of the stories is retained while enhancing the overall experience with dynamic staging.

Inspired by Legacy

This theatrical initiative is not a new venture for Watanabe, who continues the vision of the late TARAKO, a beloved figure in the theater community. The NAO-SORA project aims to bring both classic and contemporary literary works to life through narration and drama. Building upon the legacy of the previous project 'NAO-TA! Produce,' Watanabe seeks to highlight the power of voice and storytelling through this engaging format.
