EVB's Ultra-Slim 150 kW DC Charger Wins Prestigious Design Awards in 2026

A Breakthrough in EV Charging: The BUDC Charger

In a significant achievement for electric vehicle infrastructure, EVB has announced that its BUDC ultra-slim DC charger has been honored with both the iF DESIGN AWARD and the Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2026. These accolades are a testament to the charger’s innovative design, technical excellence, and practical utility, marking a leap forward in the electric vehicle charging landscape.

Innovative Design Meets Functionality

The BUDC charger boasts a robust performance of 150 kW, all encapsulated in a streamlined body that measures approximately 100 mm in thickness. This design not only minimizes space requirements but also addresses a common challenge in Europe—installing high-powered charging devices in areas with limited space. The charger’s flat profile allows for both wall-mounted and recessed installations, making it suitable for urban areas, parking lots, bus depots, and fleet vehicle facilities.

Equipped with dual CCS2 connectors, the BUDC's outdoor-friendly features include an IP65-rated housing, ensuring it can withstand various environmental conditions. Each connector can deliver up to 150 kW, and an intelligent power allocation system efficiently shares the available power when two vehicles are charging simultaneously.

Maintenance Made Easy

One of the standout features of the BUDC charger is its liquid cooling system and modular design. This allows for straightforward maintenance and a reliable operational lifespan, making it an advantageous choice for charging station operators and fleet managers alike.

Jundan Wang, the CEO of EVB, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “Winning the iF DESIGN AWARD and the Red Dot Award confirms that charging infrastructure can deliver exceptional performance without disrupting the spaces in which it is installed.” The BUDC system has been specifically designed to help users optimize limited space while providing a seamless and reliable charging experience.

A Comprehensive Charging Portfolio

The innovations seen in the BUDC charger are part of EVB’s broader offering, which ranges from 3.7 kW AC chargers to 2,000 kW megawatt charging systems. As part of its commitment to excellence, EVB provides CE-marked and TÜV-certified models, as well as support for OCPP 1.6J/2.0.1 and ISO 15118 Plug & Charge protocols, ensuring compatibility and ease of use across various systems.

Depending on the selected model and configuration, EVB can also offer metering solutions compliant with the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), as well as options for credit and debit card payments, and contactless payment methods for charging station operators and public charging networks across Europe.
