Nakaniwa Housing Corporation Sponsors the Bud Brand Award 2025

Nakaniwa Housing Corporation's Major Role in the Bud Brand Award 2025

Nakaniwa Housing Corporation has proudly sponsored the Bud Brand Award 2025, a competition aimed at spotting and nurturing young talents. The Bud Brand initiative, established by the Japan DESIGN BANK in 2016, focuses on empowering the next generation of creators to showcase their work globally, especially during Milan Design Week, a premier event for design enthusiasts.

In its latest iteration, the Bud Brand project has continued to grow, featuring an impressive solo exhibition in the Tortona district. This location has become renowned for its popularity during Milan Design Week, attracting significant foot traffic and showcasing a variety of projects from both businesses and individual artists. In 2024 alone, the region saw over 10,000 visitors over just one week, marking a notable engagement from the design community and the general public.

Highlights from the 2025 Competition

The Bud Brand Award 2025 called for submissions from students and creators aged 35 and under. Over 100 applications were submitted, and from these, eight works were selected for exhibition at this year’s Milan Design Week. One standout piece was the “Kumiko Ema” created by Mina Kondo from Kagawa University, which received a Corporate Award from Nakaniwa Housing. This recognition not only highlights the talent of the young creator but also underscores Nakaniwa's commitment to supporting emerging designers in their journey.

The impressive display of creativity and innovation continues to bolster the Bud Brand's mission, aligning with Nakaniwa's philosophy of fostering connections and satisfaction with clients following bespoke construction projects.

Report and Exhibition in Fukuoka

Following the success in Milan, the Bud Brand award report meeting and exhibition will be held from June 29 to July 2 at “Fremtiden” in Fukuoka. The venue is located at 1-10-19 Meihama Station South, Nishi Ward, Fukuoka City. Daily exhibition hours will run from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. On July 2, a report meeting is scheduled for 4:30 PM, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the awarded works and the competition outcomes.

For those interested in participating, registration is available through the official sign-up form.

Look Ahead: Bud Brand Award 2026

The excitement doesn’t stop here. Plans for the Bud Brand Award 2026 are already in motion, with a theme centered around ‘suspension and everyday items’. This initiative continues to provide a vital platform for younger designers, encouraging them to push their creative boundaries and gain international exposure through presentations at Milan Design Week. Aspiring designers aged 35 and under are invited to apply, promising more innovation and ingenuity in the coming years. Further details can be found on the Bud Brand's official website.
