JumpStart Inc.'s Support Fuels $1.9 Billion Economic Surge in Ohio for 2025

In a significant announcement, JumpStart Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Ohio businesses, revealed that its efforts alongside entrepreneurial service provider (ESP) partners have resulted in a remarkable $1.9 billion in economic activity for the state in 2025. This impressive figure marks an 11% increase from the previous year, culminating in an estimated $16.9 billion in cumulative economic impact since 2010.

Lorne Novick, the CEO of JumpStart, commented on the organization's foundational values, saying, "JumpStart was established in 2004 with a commitment to bridge the gaps in support for local entrepreneurs. Today’s reported impact exemplifies the long-term results of that commitment, highlighting the ability of entrepreneurs to turn ideas into sustainable businesses."

Among the sectors that contributed to this surge, tech startups stood out, generating approximately $1.8 billion in economic activity, which represents a notable 9% growth compared to 2024. These startups, backed by JumpStart’s extensive ESP network, created 9,236 jobs throughout Ohio, underscoring the interconnected nature of job creation and economic expansion.

The collaborative ecosystem fostered by JumpStart includes 16 regional ESP partners which play a crucial role in providing resources for emerging startups. Organizations such as Bounce Innovation Hub, Cleveland Clinic, and Great Lakes Innovation and Development Enterprise are vital players facilitating this growth.

Indeed, the supportive environment enabled entrepreneurs like Lydia Floyd, the founder of InsureScope, to flourish. Floyd stated, "Establishing an insurance technology company in Northeast Ohio is possible thanks to a community that champions entrepreneurship. We owe much of our success to the invaluable mentorship and support from JumpStart and local networks."

Building on this momentum, JumpStart has adapted its strategies to better cater to regional founders, illustrated by the launch of its Trailblazer Accelerator program in 2024, designed to extend support without taking ownership stakes in the startups. Kaleigh Gallagher, VP of Tech Services, emphasized, "Our approach aims to allow founders to develop their ventures without the pressure to de-risk too soon."

The effectiveness of this model was noted by Andrew Cothrel, CEO of Kilele Health Inc., who described how the program accelerated their progress by connecting them with essential partners at critical moments. Moreover, Kilele Health achieved a groundbreaking milestone in biosensor technology, spurred by the support received through the Trailblazer program.

While tech companies saw substantial contributions to the economy, small businesses supported by JumpStart also experienced remarkable growth. In 2025, these businesses enhanced their economic output by 60% to $131 million, with a 42% increase in job support, totaling 1,564 jobs. The launch of new programs like CapitalReady and ScaleReady substantially contributed to this success, preparing business owners for sustainable growth.

Patty Ajdukiewicz, VP of Small Business Capital and Services at JumpStart, remarked on the pivot towards stability that many small business owners are achieving, noting the excitement of seeing entrepreneurs transition from early stages into fully operational businesses, and further become vital contributors to their local economies.

Tina Lattouf Chamoun, the founder of Terranean, credited JumpStart's assistance as a vital factor in her company’s recent successes, including awards and significant sales growth. Her experience exemplifies the difference that collaborative support can make for small businesses navigating the challenges of growth.

As JumpStart continues to forge paths for entrepreneurs across Ohio, the stories behind the numbers reveal a strong community of determined individuals willing to invest in their own futures. The 2025 Economic and Fiscal Impact Report serves as a testament to the collective efforts of local founders and the enduring impact of support organizations like JumpStart.
