Kewpie Group's Commitment to Sustainability
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Kewpie Corporation, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, has announced an ambitious plan to switch to 100% renewable energy at ten significant sites by 2025. This initiative is expected to lead to a reduction of approximately 20,000 tons of CO2 emissions, contributing to Kewpie's larger goal of reducing CO2 emissions by over 50% compared to 2013 levels by 2030.
The Kewpie Kobe Factory has already achieved net-zero status in energy usage for both electricity and fuel as of 2022. Following this milestone, Kewpie Tamago Co., Ltd.'s Sanda Factory located in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, is scheduled to complete its transition to renewable energy by September 2024. Similarly, the transition at the Toritsu Kewpie Co., Ltd. in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, is expected to be finalized in January 2025.
Moreover, starting in April 2025, an additional seven locations will also shift to 100% renewable energy. This move reflects Kewpie Group's ongoing efforts to accelerate its initiatives designed to mitigate environmental impact and work towards a more sustainable society.
