Vortex Imaging Inc. Secures $12 Million Financing to Propel Innovative Ultrasound Imaging Solutions

Vortex Imaging Inc., a pioneer in medical imaging technology, announced the successful completion of a $12 million financing round on May 18, 2026. This round of funding, which saw support from both existing and new investors such as 10D Ventures, Entrée Capital, and Connecticut Innovations, is a significant step towards accelerating the company’s goal of developing cutting-edge computational ultrasound solutions.

The newly acquired capital will enable Vortex Imaging to advance its innovative ultrasound imaging system, which is designed to deliver exceptional 3D volumetric imaging directly at healthcare facilities. This technology relies on state-of-the-art computational image reconstruction and leverages the power of GPUs-on-Cloud to offer high-quality images in real-time. By shifting advanced imaging capabilities from centralized radiology suites to on-site clinical settings, Vortex aims to reduce delays in patient care significantly.

Traditionally, advanced imaging workflows have been bogged down by the complexities of central imaging facilities, often causing bottlenecks in patient treatment processes. Vortex Imaging’s new ultrasound system promises to streamline this process by providing standardized and reproducible volumetric datasets with a simplified learning curve. Additionally, this approach avoids the use of ionizing radiation commonly associated with certain imaging techniques, thus prioritizing patient safety.

The reconstructed images produced by Vortex Imaging's system will capture high-resolution 3D volumetric visualizations, akin to what is seen with CT and MRI systems while maintaining the compactness and portability characteristic of ultrasound technology. With these capabilities, healthcare providers will be equipped to make quick and informed decisions right at the point of care, thereby enhancing overall patient outcomes.

CEO Tomer Ben David emphasized the importance of this financing round, stating, "This is a significant milestone for Vortex Imaging as we strive to transform ultrasound technology into a standardized volumetric imaging system. We are eager to leverage our enhanced resources to expedite the FDA clearance process and begin our clinical deployments swiftly."

The board of directors has also seen a notable expansion with the appointment of Ori Hadomi, the former CEO of Mazor Robotics, as Chairman. His extensive expertise in bringing transformative medical technologies to market will be pivotal as Vortex Imaging navigates the subsequent stages of development and commercialization.

Other board members include Chris Cleary and Yahal Zilka, both of whom bring substantial experience in healthcare and medtech sectors. This diverse and seasoned leadership team is expected to provide vital insight and guidance as Vortex Imaging advances its positioning in the medical imaging field.

Initially focusing on urology and nephrology, Vortex Imaging plans to expand into additional diagnostic areas that could benefit from innovative imaging solutions.

The potential impact of Vortex Imaging's technology extends beyond just imaging quality; it could fundamentally change how and where advanced imaging is conducted, making it more accessible across various healthcare environments. As Ori Hadomi remarked, “The innovative approach of combining high-quality volumetric imaging with reduced operator dependency could set a new standard for healthcare systems.”
