Celebrating Eight Years of Clean Water Initiative in Kenya With Waterdrop Filter and The Water Project

Waterdrop Filter and The Water Project Celebrate Eight Years of Clean Water Initiative in Kenya

On the occasion of the International Day of Charity recognized by the United Nations, Waterdrop Filter proudly partnered with The Water Project to commemorate eight years dedicated to expanding access to clean drinking water in western Kenya. Since 2017, their collaboration has transformed the lives of thousands of children and families, evolving from supporting individual projects to implementing comprehensive programs aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The initiative began in 2016 after Waterdrop Filter's leadership learned about the severe water scarcity in sub-Saharan Africa. Motivated by the belief that access to clean water is a fundamental human right, the company launched the Water4Smile initiative in 2017. They pledged that for every water purifier sold, a child would receive clean drinking water for one day. By selecting The Water Project as a trusted partner, Waterdrop Filter has built a collaboration reflecting their ongoing commitment to global solidarity.

As a proud sponsor, Waterdrop Filter supports a shared vision where 100% of the population in the region has access to clean and safe water. Since its founding, The Water Project has successfully provided over 900,000 individuals in western Kenya with clean water through more than 2,600 facilities that are not only built but also monitored to ensure a 96% functionality rate.

Angel, a 13-year-old student at Kakoyi Primary School, expressed, "The new water source will help our parents save resources, as we will no longer suffer from waterborne diseases. Teachers will also have more time with students since we will not have to leave school to fetch water."

Philip, the president of Waterdrop Filter, remarked, "On this International Day of Charity, we are reminded that clean drinking water is not just a basic human necessity but also the foundation of dignity, education, and equality. Our eight-year journey with The Water Project illustrates how persistent humanitarian action can transform communities and foster lasting change."
