Join the 2025 Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® Afib Awareness Campaign
StopAfib.org, a leading organization dedicated to atrial fibrillation (Afib) awareness, is launching the 2025 Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® campaign this September, which is recognized as National Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month. Established in 2007, this initiative aims to educate both patients and the public about Afib, encouraging early diagnosis to prevent devastating outcomes, such as strokes and heart failure.
Understanding Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial fibrillation is a common heart rhythm disorder affecting millions globally. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), by 2030, approximately 12.1 million individuals in the United States may be living with Afib. However, many remain undiagnosed until they experience severe health events. This underscores the importance of awareness and education about the symptoms, causes, and risks associated with Afib.
Key Campaign Goals
The 2025 awareness campaign is more than just a call to action; it aims to:
- - Encourage Early Diagnosis: By raising awareness, the campaign seeks to ensure more individuals recognize potential Afib symptoms and seek medical advice promptly.
- - Promote Understanding: It's essential for both patients and caregivers to understand Afib fully, including its symptoms and implications for health.
- - Explore Treatment Options: Learning about rate and rhythm control strategies can provide patients with more benign ways to manage their conditions.
- - Build Community Support: The StopAfib.org online community will serve as a platform for individuals affected by Afib to connect, share their experiences, and support each other.
- - Commit to Continued Education: Participants are encouraged to keep learning and advocating for themselves and others throughout the year.
Empowering Individuals with Knowledge
Mellanie True Hills, the founder and CEO of StopAfib.org, emphasized the importance of community engagement in improving health outcomes. "Living with Afib can feel isolating, but it doesn't have to be that way. This campaign is about more than awareness. It's about empowering people to make informed decisions about their care, getting back in rhythm, and living the life they deserve. We've been proud to help lead that charge for nearly two decades," she said.
Get Involved
People who want to be part of this meaningful campaign can commit to raising awareness about Afib. Participants will receive a personalized certificate recognizing their commitment. While September is designated as National Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month, the aim is to promote continuous education and advocacy for Afib throughout the entire year.
