Tsumura Launches New Project for Women’s Health
On October 19, recognized as International Menstrual Day, Tsumura Co., Ltd. has proudly announced the launch of the ‘Let’s Talk About Menstrual Issues Project’ set to commence on October 15, 2025. This initiative aims to encourage women to consult gynecologists regarding their menstrual health concerns and is represented by the popular Sanrio character Kuromi.
Recent research conducted by Tsumura in August 2025 revealed some staggering statistics: a significant 75.8% of women aged 19-34 consider menstrual discomfort as something “normal” and often do not seek help for it. Alarmingly, 64.1% of participants felt that their menstrual symptoms were severe enough to disrupt their daily lives. The most common reason reported for not addressing these issues was that they had gotten used to them, indicating a troubling trend where menstrual health complaints are normalized rather than treated.
Tsumura’s new project seeks to confront this mindset, advocating for a culture where menstrual discomfort is not accepted as an everyday occurrence but is addressed proactively. The initiative aims to aid individuals in discovering personalized coping strategies and emphasizes the importance of early consultations with healthcare providers from a holistic health perspective.
By leveraging Kuromi as the face of this project, Tsumura plans to create a series of resources aimed at raising awareness around menstrual issues. Various types of content, including a dedicated website, web commercials, and collaborations with medical institutions will serve as platforms to connect women with the necessary support for their health needs. The campaign’s primary goal is to facilitate better conversations about menstrual health and encourage women to feel comfortable reaching out for help.
Tsumura's commitment to women's health is deeply rooted in its purpose:
