Lockheed Martin and NATO Allies Accelerate PAC-3® Sustainment in Europe
July 7, 2026 - Ankara, Türkiye
Lockheed Martin proudly announces a significant commitment from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden aimed at establishing a dedicated PAC-3® Missile Maintenance Facility in Europe. This pivotal agreement, inked today during the NATO Summit Defense Industry Forum, reinforces NATO's integrated defense framework.
The PAC-3 Missile, recognized as the world's most advanced air defense missile, exemplifies cutting-edge technology in aviation defense. The proposed facility will be crucial for improving NATO's readiness by enabling localized maintenance and sustainment operations. This development strategically positions NATO to defend against evolving threats by ensuring that PAC-3 missiles remain maintainable, reliable, and deployment-ready.
Jay Pitman, President of Lockheed Martin International, emphasized that, "Industrial cooperation strengthens the transatlantic defense industrial base and contributes to economic progress and shared security." For over 75 years, Lockheed Martin has remained dedicated to being a strategic partner in Europe’s defense landscape. The current initiative seeks to hasten collaboration with NATO allies and industry partners to elevate air and missile defense capabilities and bolster regional sustainment networks.
The new PAC-3 Missile Maintenance Facility will support NATO nations operating sophisticated PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptors and the newer PAC-3 Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) interceptors. Lockheed Martin will bring its extensive experience in missile production, sustainment, engineering, and supply-chain management to assist in the development of this facility and support the allied nations relying on PAC-3 solutions.
The global demand for PAC-3 missiles continues to rise, driven by their proven battle performance. Recently, a landmark framework agreement was established with the U.S. Department of War, aiming to triple the production capacity of the PAC-3 MSE missiles. In April, Lockheed Martin secured a $4.7 billion contract from the U.S. government to accelerate the production of PAC-3 MSE further this year, thus ensuring U.S. allies possess the cutting-edge air and missile defense capabilities essential for safeguarding critical assets.
Lockheed Martin stands as a leading global defense technology firm championing innovation and scientific advancement. The company is dedicated to delivering transformative technologies that ensure the security of those it serves. With its all-domain mission solutions and commitment to 21st Century Security®, Lockheed Martin continually strives to keep its partners ahead of potential threats.
