GLM Achieves Bronze Certification for Supporting Fatherhood in Tokyo's Workplace Initiatives

In a significant step towards supporting employees' family lives, Global Link Management Co., Ltd. (GLM) has successfully achieved Bronze certification under the 'TOKYO Paternal Childcare Promotion Company' initiative for the fiscal year 2024. This recognition marks an important milestone in the company's ongoing commitment to fostering a family-friendly workplace environment, where male employees can actively participate in childcare responsibilities.

The 'TOKYO Paternal Childcare Promotion Company' registration system is an initiative by the Tokyo metropolitan government that encourages companies to maintain a certain rate of male employees taking paternity leave. Qualifying firms are awarded certifications in three tiers based on their performance, with GLM proudly achieving its first Bronze certification by recording a 66% participation rate of male employees taking paternity leave over a two-year period from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024.

GLM's success can be attributed to its proactive internal communications strategies, including the dissemination of information about paternity leave through internal newsletters and bulletin boards. The company has implemented individual meetings with male employees upon learning of their spouse's pregnancy to discuss the benefits of taking paternity leave. Furthermore, the company provides detailed explanations of its paternity leave policies and social insurance options, ensuring that staff members feel supported and informed.

In addition to traditional informational avenues, GLM has ramped up its efforts to build understanding within the company through innovative approaches. For instance, featuring interviews with newly-dads and their supervisors in internal video reports has become a staple, effectively demystifying the processes involved in taking paternity leave and encouraging more employees to consider it.

As of 2025, there have been even more male employees at GLM taking 15 days or more of paternity leave, showcasing a positive trend towards engaging more fathers in childcare. The company has set its sights on achieving Silver certification, which requires a participation rate between 75% and 100%, as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing its role as a paternal-friendly employer.

In conjunction with the recent Bronze certification, GLM has also received the 'Eruboshi' certification (two stars) for promoting women's employment. This reflects the company's dedication to building an inclusive workplace that supports employees regardless of gender throughout various stages of life.

Looking ahead, GLM remains dedicated to expanding its support systems tailored to the diverse needs of its employees, ensuring every individual, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive in a balanced work-life environment. By reinforcing its initiatives and striving for even higher standards, GLM is setting a commendable example for other companies in Japan to follow as they work to create supportive atmospheres for all working parents.

As organizations recognize the importance of work-life balance, GLM stands out as a leader in cultivating a workplace culture where both men and women can excel and pursue family life without compromising their professional goals. With continued efforts in promoting such an environment, GLM not only benefits its employees but contributes positively to society as a whole, highlighting the significance of male involvement in childcare and promoting gender equity in the workplace.
