Reju Strengthens Textile Recycling Network by Partnering with Six Leading Mills

Reju Expands Its Textile Recycling Network

Reju, a pioneer in textile recycling, has recently announced the establishment of partnerships with six prominent textile mills aimed at revolutionizing the textile industry. This strategic collaboration focuses on integrating regenerated polyester into the global supply chain, a crucial step in promoting sustainable textile practices.

The Textile Partners

The six mills involved in this initiative include: A. Sampaio, RDD Textiles, Swisstex Direct, Tintex Textiles, FOV Fabrics, and Utenos. Each of these enterprises brings specialized expertise that complements various stages of the textile value chain.

  • - A. Sampaio: A Portuguese leader in circular knitting with over 79 years of experience, known for its commitment to innovation and sustainability in textiles.
  • - RDD Textiles: Renowned for its seamless knits and commitment to utilizing recycled materials, ensuring traceability within the supply chain.
  • - Swisstex Direct: An eco-conscious supplier based in Los Angeles, specializing in innovative knitting and finishing services.
  • - Tintex Textiles: A certified B Corp that focuses on creating sustainable jersey fabrics while minimizing environmental impact through advanced dyeing techniques.
  • - FOV Fabrics: A Swedish manufacturer of high-tech woven materials that meet complex technical and functional demands.
  • - Utenos Trikotazas: A vertically integrated producer in the Baltic region that combines over 50 years of expertise in textile production.

These partnerships enable Reju to access a diverse range of technologies, from jersey knitting and material recycling to advanced dyeing techniques. This synergy is vital for scaling the transformation of recycled polyester from raw materials to finished fabrics ready for market.

Advancing the Circular Textile Economy

Patrick Frisk, CEO of Reju, stated, “Each partner contributes to the development of our circular textile system. As we expand our future regeneration hubs, our capacity to deliver high-quality regenerated polyester to manufacturers and brands will grow significantly.” This collaboration is indicative of Reju’s commitment to responding to the increasing market demand for sustainable textile solutions.

Reju's partnerships are designed to correlate with specific project developments across its production network, reflecting the authentic market demand driven by collaborations with a growing number of brands.

Recent Achievements

The announcement of these collaborations follows a successful year for Reju, highlighted by several significant milestones: the approval of €135 million in Dutch state funding to support the construction of a manufacturing facility, selection of Rochester, New York, as the location for its first North American regeneration hub, and plans for an additional center in Lacq, France.

“By bringing these companies into our ecosystem, we can convert regenerated materials into tangible products,” added Frisk. This entails not only theoretical applications of circular economy principles but also practical implementations that turn textile waste into market-ready fabric.

The Future Outlook

The expansion of Reju's production network positions the company to produce regenerated polyester at the volumes and quality necessary for widespread adoption within the industry. This pivotal advancement is a step towards creating a comprehensive circular system where textile waste becomes the raw material for new textile products.
