DPR Foundation Boosts Support for Under-Resourced Youth with $2 Million in Grants
In a remarkable achievement, the DPR Foundation has distributed over $2 million in grants to 34 organizations committed to supporting under-resourced youth across the United States. This substantial contribution marks an impressive 46% increase from the previous year, showcasing the foundation's dedication to uplifting disadvantaged communities.
The DPR Foundation, established in 2008 by DPR Construction, has a long history of investing in organizations that foster opportunities for youth who may otherwise be overlooked. The selection of grant recipients is based on their commitment to building pathways for underprivileged young people, ensuring they have access to essential resources and opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives.
Among the most significant grants awarded, longtime partners such as the Center for Children and Young Adults, Gallatin Shalom Zone, Girlstart, HANDY, and Milagro Center have received substantial support. Notably, organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs across several regions, including Oakland, Placer County, and Tampa Bay, have also been recognized for their impactful efforts.
Whitney Dorn, President of the DPR Foundation Board, emphasized the importance of these partnerships, noting that many of the organizations have collaborated with the foundation for over a decade. This continuity not only enhances trust and collaboration but also allows for tangible results, as program participants have gone on to successful careers, including in the construction field.
Nearly 40% of the grantees have received support from the DPR Foundation for more than ten years, cumulatively receiving over $800,000 in funding. This year's allocation continues this trend, with some organizations set to benefit from multi-year funding commitments. Additionally, the foundation has earmarked funds for another round of grants expected in mid-2025, demonstrating a proactive approach to community investment.
Other notable grant recipients include Future for Kids in Tucson, Girls Inc. in multiple counties, Helping Hands in Aiken, SC, and organizations serving the Atlanta area, Greater Dallas, and multiple regions in California and Virginia. Heather Lezon, the Executive Director of the Youth Assistance Coalition, expressed gratitude for the DPR Foundation's support, highlighting its transformative impact on the lives of vulnerable teens.
"This increased commitment ensures we can deepen our impact, enhancing our programs and resources to create brighter futures for vulnerable teens in our community," Lezon stated. She further emphasized that this support is more than just financial—it validates the missions of the organizations and enables them to plan for the future confidently, pursue ambitious goals, and invest in real opportunities for success.
Over the past 16 years, the DPR Foundation has provided an impressive total of $16.1 million in unrestricted grants, benefiting organizations that collectively assist thousands of youth in their communities. Beyond grants, DPR Construction contributes millions of dollars in volunteer hours and construction projects annually to its nonprofit partners through its community initiatives program. This holistic support approach aligns perfectly with the foundation’s mission to empower under-resourced youth.
The DPR Foundation stands as a testament to the powerful impact that dedicated support can have on community development and youth empowerment. Its ongoing commitment sheds light on the importance of collaborative efforts in building pathways for underrepresented youth, empowering them to succeed in their endeavors.
