Nishijin-ori Dog Wear Brand Loco Makes Waves at Interpet 2025
In April 2025, Loco y Tanto, a Nishijin-ori dog wear brand based in Kyoto, marked its debut at Japan’s largest pet event,
Interpet 2025. Held at Tokyo Big Sight from April 3rd to 6th, the event captured the attention of pet lovers and industry professionals alike. With a meticulously crafted booth layout that took more than ten hours to create, Loco showcased a unique combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern pet fashion.
During the expo, over 30 pet owners experienced the brand's offerings, including trying on and purchasing products, resulting in significant growth in Instagram followers and fruitful discussions with more than 50 businesses. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their admiration for the exquisite designs and craving for a memorable experience for their beloved pets.

A Brand Evolution
Following the successful event, the company announced a rebranding initiative. As of April 12, 2025, Loco has officially changed its name to
Miyako, which embodies three core principles: the preservation of Kyoto’s traditions, the joy of living with dogs, and a commitment to sharing these values with the world. The name change reflects the brand's narrative, which resonated with numerous visitors at Interpet, accelerating the decision to evolve its identity.
The rebranding will focus on enhancing customer experiences and expanding outreach. Miyako, as the new brand, intends to offer more engaging experiences, highlighting the charm of combining pets and traditional crafts.
Future Aspirations
Miyako is set to broaden its horizons by organizing nationwide photo events and collaborating with department stores, hotels, and photography studios, making the joy of celebrating special occasions with pets more accessible. Several events are already scheduled, and businesses interested in collaboration are encouraged to reach out.
Plans are also underway to expand product designs and sizes, promising over 100 unique styles for dog owners to choose from.
Moreover, through the upcoming events, Miyako aims to penetrate international markets, promoting the art of Nishijin-ori to dog lovers globally. The focus will be on showcasing the excitement of celebrating milestones with beautiful garments and sharing the story behind Nishijin-ori’s rich history.
