PSEG Long Island Tops Customer Satisfaction Rankings
PSEG Long Island has achieved a significant milestone by being recognized as the top electric utility provider in the J.D. Power 2025 Business Customer Satisfaction Study for large enterprises in the Eastern region. This remarkable achievement underscores a decade-long commitment to enhancing customer service standards.
The J.D. Power survey, conducted among over 18,000 business customers across the nation, highlights PSEG Long Island’s substantial improvement in service quality. Previously, the company had found itself at the bottom of customer satisfaction rankings, but since taking over electric operations in 2014, it has made continuous efforts to elevate its service delivery. David Lyons, interim President and Chief Operating Officer of PSEG Long Island, acknowledged this achievement, stating, "Since our inception in 2014, we've tirelessly worked to enhance the experience for our 1.2 million electric customers on Long Island and Rockaway, including over 130,000 commercial clients. It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as the leader in customer satisfaction among utility providers spanning 12 states."
The survey results reveal that PSEG Long Island ranked highest in four essential areas: digital channels, personnel, cost, and the information provided. These accolades not only reflect the hard work of the employees but also the effective programs developed to meet the needs of business customers. Lou DeBrino, Vice President of Customer Operations, emphasized the significance of this recognition, stating, "This award is a testament to our employees' dedication in creating programs and support that businesses require, and we sincerely thank our business customers for acknowledging our commitment through their survey responses."
In addition to its commitment to exceptional service, PSEG Long Island offers a variety of programs and incentives tailored for business customers. These include free energy assessments, economic development grants, bill credit programs, energy efficiency discounts, and incentives for electric vehicles and charging stations. To ensure dedicated support for key clients, the company employs a specialized team that collaborates closely with business leaders, guaranteeing high-quality service.
For small businesses, PSEG Long Island introduced the Business First Advocates program, which encompasses business districts across the service area and provides concierge-style service to help manage their energy needs. Furthermore, since 2018, PSEG Long Island has invested over $2.8 million in several economic development initiatives, aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs.
The Main Street Revitalization grants are particularly noteworthy, designed to promote economic vitality and the growth of business districts. These grants incentivize business owners to undertake renovation or expansion projects, fostering a thriving business environment. So far, 72 businesses have received nearly $2 million in grant funding, contributing to local commerce and facilitating the creation of approximately 1,200 new jobs in expanded or new enterprises.
The Main Street Revitalization program forms part of PSEG Long Island’s ongoing Business First initiative, which is committed to supporting small businesses in Long Island and Rockaway. Additionally, Business First extends grants towards the Vacant Space Revival and Community Thrive Programs, providing up to $10,000 in bill discounts during the first year for newly established businesses—a challenging period financially. Since the program's inception, more than $400,000 has been allocated to over 170 new businesses.
Apart from direct grants for businesses, local business associations including chambers of commerce, business improvement districts, and civic associations can also apply for grants up to $10,000 for enhancements and beautification projects. These initiatives, now under the Community Thrive Program, allow organizations to receive reimbursements for items aimed at revitalizing and promoting commerce in central areas.
In conjunction with the Business First initiative, PSEG Long Island's efficiency program provides significant discounts on heating and cooling, indoor and outdoor lighting, refrigeration, and various other services, aiming to help business owners save money while reducing their carbon footprint.
