Bear-kun's Third Dance Project Featuring Iwate Prefecture Launches Online!

Bear-kun's Third Dance Project: Iwate Edition

The Apaman Network, a leading rental housing brokerage company, has released its third installment of a nationwide dance project featuring its beloved character, Bear-kun. This time, the focus is on Iwate Prefecture and its famous Wanko Soba, a traditional soba noodle dish that encourages patrons to eat until they're satisfied. Set to launch on May 21, 2025, the dance aims to showcase local culture and promote regional revitalization.

Background and Purpose

This initiative is part of Apaman Network's mission to support local communities by highlighting the unique attractions of each of Japan's 47 prefectures through engaging activities. Through Bear-kun's cheerful dances, the company aims to promote regional tourism and stimulate economic activity.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11, which focuses on sustainable urban development, this project also contributes to Goal 8, which encourages economic growth and decent work. By sharing the vibrant culture and traditions of Iwate via social media, the initiative seeks to generate awareness and interest both locally and nationwide.

The Iwate Dance: Wanko Soba Challenge

The central theme of this new dance is Wanko Soba, where Bear-kun enthusiastically attempts to consume as many bowls of soba as possible. Excited by the challenge, our food-loving character dances joyfully through the motions of eating, embodying the spirit of Iwate. At the end of the performance, Bear-kun demonstrates his satisfaction after achieving the impressive feat of eating over 100 bowls of soba, ultimately receiving the wooden handprint that comes with this culinary challenge.
