Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) is making significant strides in its leadership by promoting Ryan Malecha to the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management, effective May 1. This appointment marks a new chapter for both Malecha and FHU, as he brings nearly two decades of experience within the university's various leadership and advancement roles.
Ryan Malecha has been a pivotal figure at Freed-Hardeman since he first joined the institution, making his impact felt across a range of initiatives and responsibilities. Malecha completed his undergraduate education at FHU in 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science in Bible followed by a Master of Business Administration in 2012. His academic journey laid the groundwork for his commitment to this esteemed institution.
Throughout his 18 years at FHU, Malecha has embraced numerous leadership roles that showcase his dedication to enhancing the university's mission. He commenced his career in what is known as the advancement department, demonstrating a commitment to fostering relationships with alumni while supporting fundraising initiatives that drive institutional growth. Notably, he has directed the phonathon program, served as a regional development director for Alabama and Mississippi, and has been behind various fundraising initiatives.
A Legacy of Impact
One of Malecha's notable achievements includes launching FHU's Challenge Day of Giving, an initiative designed to encourage donations and community engagement. Additionally, he was instrumental in the inception and execution of the Presidential Trek outreach initiative, which aimed at strengthening the bond between the university and its community.
His administrative expertise extends beyond fundraising; Malecha has been integral to the enhancement of FHU’s technological capabilities, particularly in the development of the university's website and the implementation of a robust customer relationship management system that serves both enrollment management and advancement. This initiative, which he continues to oversee, is pivotal in modernizing how the university interacts with potential students and alumni.
But Malecha’s contributions aren’t confined to operational improvements; his leadership has been fundamental in orchestrating major events such as the annual FHU Benefit Dinner. Moreover, he actively participates in the Community Engagement leadership team, demonstrating a holistic commitment to FHU's broader institutional strategy and outreach.

In his upcoming role as Vice President for Enrollment Management, Malecha will take the helm of initiatives previously shaped by Associate Vice President Kaylan Stewart. He brings not only experience but fresh perspectives that are expected to accelerate the progress of enrollment strategies that have contributed to the university’s recent growth.
