NOK Unveils New Work Uniforms
In a significant move marking its upcoming 85th anniversary on July 9, 2026, NOK Corporation, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, is set to revamp its work uniforms for the first time in nearly 40 years. This bold refresh aims not only to enhance the comfort and safety of employees in production sites and research facilities but also to foster a sense of unity across the corporate group.
Overseen by creative director Sato Kasahawa, known for his remarkable design studio SAMURAI, the new uniforms will reflect the company’s corporate identity (CI). The launch is scheduled to begin in October of this year, starting with domestic operations.
The new work attire will feature a solid navy, in accordance with the company’s corporate colors, and will include a variety of items such as jackets, pants, polo shirts, caps, and coveralls. NOK Group, which prides itself on a foundation of extensive research coupled with high-quality mass production, aims to embody the core of essential manufacturing—delivering safety and comfort, fundamental to a prosperous society.
This uniform redesign emphasizes three primary priorities: ensuring the safety of the wearer, maintaining product quality, and enhancing functionality and comfort. To achieve this, NOK solicited feedback through over 4,300 surveys and face-to-face interviews with around 170 employees. Moreover, fitting sessions at all domestic production sites were conducted, alongside validations from the safety quality division, ensuring that the optimal items and specifications were chosen for the new attire.
Key Features of the New Uniforms
- - CI-Driven Design: The new uniforms will embrace a simplistic yet smart design, guided by Kasahawa’s supervision to optimize safety and usability during operational hours. This design is intended to be timeless, transcending trends, gender, and age.
- - Versatile Specifications: To cater to the diverse working environments, the uniform's components have been intricately designed, expanding the options available to employees.
- - Exceptional Motion and Comfort: Utilizing a three-dimensional cut influenced by sports patterns, the materials chosen will be lightweight, stretchable, quick-drying, and breathable, adapting efficiently to varying temperatures and ensuring ease of movement at work.
