Discovering Fund Management: A Unique Summer Event

During the summer break, Asset Management One Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management Company and Money Shift Co., Ltd., organized a special educational event entitled "Teacher Nigu! What is a Fund Manager?" This event took place on August 15, 2026, aimed at students from elementary to high school.

The event attracted a total of 54 participants across two sessions: 23 elementary school students attended the morning session, while 31 middle and high school students participated in the afternoon. Designed to introduce participants to the basics of finance and investment, the event comprised a detailed lecture followed by interactive group activities.

The opening talk was conducted by Mr. Tatsuya Taniguchi, the representative of Money Shift, who shared valuable insights on "Learning the Basics of Stock Investment as a Family." This lecture aimed to provide both students and their parents with foundational knowledge of investment strategies.

After the informative session, participants engaged in a hands-on experience called the "Fund Manager Experience". In this group activity, six professional fund managers from both Asset Management One and Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management played the roles of investor relations representatives from fictional companies. This role-playing aspect allowed attendees to practice what they had learned earlier.

Teams of participants conducted interviews with these IR representatives to gather in-depth information about the mock companies. Based on their findings, they collaboratively discussed and decided on their investment strategies, ultimately constructing their investment portfolios. This exercise provided a realistic glimpse into the life of a fund manager, making the learning experience both engaging and educational.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. A young attendee remarked, "I didn't understand everything at first, but I learned that there are steps I can take now to invest in stocks for my future." A parent added, "The Fund Manager Experience was fantastic! The children had the opportunity to research different companies and then work as a team to create their portfolios. This collaboration was incredibly beneficial."

Asset Management One continues to dedicate efforts to enhance individual asset formation, promote financial well-being, and spread awareness of financial education. By nurturing the next generation's understanding of finance, the organization aims to pave the way for informed and responsible future investors.
