Kolmar Korea Launches Second US Factory, Strengthening K-Beauty in America

Kolmar Korea Opens Second Factory in the USA

On July 22, 2025, Kolmar Korea proudly announced the official opening of its second manufacturing facility in the United States, located in Scott Township, Pennsylvania. This factory represents a pivotal move in the K-Beauty sector, targeting the largest cosmetics market globally. With a total area of 17,805 square meters and an impressive production capacity of 300 million units annually, Kolmar aims to effectively navigate challenges linked to tariffs and supply chains that have intensified amid global trade upheavals.

Yoon Sang Hyun, the Vice Chairman of Kolmar Group, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion during the opening ceremony, stating, “The USA is where Kolmar’s journey began over a century ago. This new facility symbolizes not just another production site but the start of a novel vision for collaboration and growth.” He emphasized the company's ambition to develop a unique ecosystem involving various stakeholders in the supply chain, which aims to establish North America’s leading hub for cosmetics manufacturing.

The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Bridget Kosierowski, a representative from Pennsylvania, and various members of state and local government, marking the occasion with approximately one hundred attendees.

A Manufacturing Powerhouse

The second facility brings together cutting-edge manufacturing technologies deployed by Kolmar, renowned globally for its quality standards. The factory specializes in skincare and sunscreen products, responding to a rising demand within the US beauty market. Furthermore, with Kolmar receiving FDA approval for over-the-counter (OTC) sunscreen production, the company is poised to seize the growing trend of K-Sunscreen in America.

With the new operational capacity, Kolmar Korea enhances its total production capabilities in North America to 470 million units per year, making it a frontrunner among cosmetic ODMs (Original Development Manufacturers) on the continent. The decision to establish a new plant instead of acquiring an existing one signifies a landmark achievement for Korean cosmetic companies.

Each aspect of the facility was meticulously designed to reflect the high operational standards of Kolmar’s Korean plants, particularly the one in Sejong. It boasts dedicated areas for manufacturing, filling, and packaging, along with advanced AI-driven quality management systems to ensure optimal efficiency with minimized error rates. Notably, about 80% of the production processes here are fully automated.

Additionally, the logistics systems and workflows mirror those of Kolmar's Sejong facility, aiming to maximize both safety and efficiency in operations.

A New Era for K-Beauty

Kolmar Korea regards its second plant as a crucial component in circumventing US tariffs on imported cosmetics. It provides a viable local production option for Korean and global brands looking to expand within the competitive American market. In his remarks, a spokesperson for Kolmar Korea noted, “For the first time, a Korean cosmetics company has built an entirely new manufacturing facility in the USA, a significant milestone in our journey. We are committed to supporting K-Beauty brands seeking to thrive in the US market without tariff-related concerns.”

The establishment of this facility is not merely a corporate venture; it embodies Kolmar’s vision of fostering innovation and collaboration within the K-Beauty ecosystem, positioning it for swift expansion in North America, Europe, and South America. As the demand for K-Beauty products continues to rise, Kolmar Korea is set to lead the charge, promoting both local and international brands in a robust new framework.

In conclusion, with its second factory in Pennsylvania, Kolmar Korea is not just reinforcing its footprint in the beauty industry but also creating a tariff-safe haven for pioneering beauty ventures in the thriving US market. This expansion represents a significant leap forward in Kolmar's mission to elevate K-Beauty on the world stage.
