The 10th Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum commenced on May 27 in Ningbo, located in east China's Zhejiang Province. This significant event gathered over 1,000 leaders from the port and shipping sectors across more than 70 countries and regions. The participants convened to discuss the present challenges and opportunities faced by the shipping industry in light of ongoing geopolitical changes.

The forum resulted in multiple agreements, including the 2026 Multilateral Partner Ports Consensus, aimed at strengthening cooperative governance across the sector. A key highlight was the development index report on global smart ports, which sets objectives for future advancements.

David Osborn, from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), stressed the importance of investing in green shipping technologies and pollution control systems. He expressed hope for enhanced international cooperation to drive the orderly decarbonization of the maritime sector, acknowledging that collaboration is crucial for sustainable success.

Specialized Seminars and Cooperative Agreements

In addition to plenary sessions, specialized seminars were held addressing pertinent topics such as green logistics, smart technologies in maritime operations, tugboat operations, and the legal aspects of maritime services.
