Onigiri Action 2025: A Global Meal for Children



In an inspiring initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity, Island Inc., the driving force behind Japan's largest cooking influencer network, is launching a major support campaign for the "Onigiri Action 2025." This program, organized by the nonprofit TABLE FOR TWO International (TFT), allows participants to contribute to feeding children in Africa and Asia simply by sharing photos of their rice balls, also known as onigiri. The campaign is set to harness the power of social media platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to raise awareness and generate impactful change.

How It Works


The Onigiri Action is more than just a photo challenge; it is a meaningful approach to providing meals to children in need. For every photo posted with the hashtag #OnigiriAction, participating companies will contribute 100 yen, equating to five school meals through TFT. This initiative, which coincides with World Food Day on October 16, has been ongoing for almost a decade and has resulted in over 11 million meals provided to children, thanks to approximately 2.14 million photos shared in previous campaigns.

A Community of Food Influencers


The focus of this year’s campaign is not only on raising funds but also on creating a community of food influencers who are committed to making a difference. Since 2018, Foodist Note has worked closely with TFT to support the Onigiri Action. The campaign emphasizes the idea that anyone can participate in solving social issues through simple acts, like posting a photo of a beloved food item. It serves as an invitation to understand global hunger and poverty issues while engaging in a fun, creative endeavor.

Participation Guidelines


Food lovers are invited to join the movement by sharing their onigiri photos on social media:

1. Instagram: Follow the official Foodist Note account (@foodietable.jp), post your rice ball photo with the hashtags #OnigiriAction and #フーディストノート, and submit the URL through the special campaign form.
2. X: Similar to Instagram, follow the Foodist Note account (@sugurecip), post your onigiri photo with the required hashtags, and share the URL via the designated form.

Participants will get a chance to win exciting prizes, with 22 lucky winners drawn from all entrants.
