Tata Communications Enhances Digital Corridor Between India and Singapore to Boost AI Connectivity

Tata Communications Enhances Digital Corridor Between India and Singapore

Tata Communications has made significant investments in building infrastructure to enhance digital connectivity between India and Singapore, aiming to support the increasing demand for AI-driven services. This move comes as part of their strategy to address the growing needs of businesses in Asia for higher bandwidth and data capacity generated by artificial intelligence.

Located at the forefront of communication technologies, Tata Communications is making groundbreaking strides by investing heavily in submarine cable systems, particularly between key hubs—Mumbai and Chennai in India—with Singapore, recognized as the leading Asian ecosystem for cloud and AI. With these investments, Tata Communications is set to enhance its Tata Global Network (TGN) by upgrading and integrating new submarine cables that provide dynamic, high-speed, and low-latency connectivity. This venture involves the company's participation in a consortium overseeing a new submarine cable system between Chennai and Singapore, expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2029.

Future of Digital Connectivity

The underwater link between India and Singapore is envisioned to evolve into one of the most strategic digital corridors globally, facilitating crucial business traffic and cloud services between these regions. By bolstering its TGN capabilities, Tata Communications aims to offer clients a diverse, agile, and efficient connectivity solution. This advancement is anticipated to foster scalability and reliability, addressing the demands from the data center ecosystem and aiding businesses with future-ready connectivity between India and Singapore.

Genius Wong, Executive Vice President of Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services at Tata Communications, emphasized that these investments reinforce their commitment to developing a robust, future-ready digital infrastructure. He stated, "As global demand for digital and AI-enhanced services accelerates, these enhancements strengthen our network’s reliability and scalability, allowing us to furnish our customers with performance-focused solutions on one of the world's busiest digital corridors."

Enhancements in Connectivity Solutions

This upgraded infrastructure will integrate seamlessly with Tata Communications' extensive fiber optic terrestrial network in India, ensuring fluid connectivity across the country and direct access to over 100 data centers nationwide. This synergy enhances the capabilities of Tata's IZO™ connectivity solutions, such as IZO™ DC Dynamic Connectivity and IZO™ Multi-cloud connectivity, which are designed to provide self-healing features, continuous availability, and auto-provisioning within the data center and cloud ecosystems. These advancements will empower clients to activate and integrate these capabilities effortlessly into their networks.

Tata Communications boasts one of the largest and most sophisticated global undersea fiber optic networks, exceeding 500,000 kilometers of undersea fiber and over 200,000 kilometers of terrestrial fiber. This development marks a significant leap for enterprise connectivity in Asia and beyond, accentuated by the introduction of the new TGN IA2 submarine cable system, which has notably improved latency, reliability, and network diversity since its integration in 2025.
