Harris Teeter Launches Together in Education Round Up Campaign
Harris Teeter is set to launch its new campaign, Together in Education (TIE), beginning July 1. This exciting initiative aims to collect funds for nonprofit organizations that cater to educators and students, making a significant impact in communities across the Southeast. This year, the campaign focuses on organizations like Classroom Central, The Salvation Army, Communities In Schools, and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
From July 1 through September 29, customers at any Harris Teeter location can participate by rounding up their total purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout. This simple act of kindness significantly contributed in the previous year, where more than $1 million was raised for similar causes.
Danna Robinson, the director of corporate affairs and customer relations at Harris Teeter, emphasized the store’s long-standing commitment to education. Since the inception of the Together in Education program in 1998, Harris Teeter has donated over $34 million to help schools and students thrive. This round up campaign offers customers another chance to express their support for local educators and students.
The funds raised through this campaign will be allocated entirely to the selected nonprofit partners, ensuring that every penny remains within the local community where the donations originate. The money will help fund after-school programs, provide classroom supplies, and cover educational resources that directly assist teachers and children. Notably, donations designated for The Salvation Army will specifically bolster after-school initiatives, contributing to the Red Shield Youth Centers' efforts.
These centers offer children from diverse backgrounds engaging after-school programs that build skills, improve literacy, and foster healthy relationships—all at little to no cost. Similarly, Communities In Schools provides tailored support that meets the individual needs of students, promoting both academic success and life skills enhancement.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is another vital partner, striving to foster healthy ecosystems for young individuals. Their goal is to empower youth to achieve sustained good health, laying the framework for successful, fulfilling lives.
Classroom Central, exclusively benefiting Charlotte-area stores, is dedicated to creating equity in education. They provide essential resources to over 200 schools across six districts, ensuring that teachers and students have access to the materials required for educational success. Whether through their Free Store or Mobile Free Store, Classroom Central is bringing vital supplies directly into the hands of those who need them most.
Harris Teeter is more than just a grocery store; for over 60 years, it has been a cornerstone in the communities it serves. With over 250 locations and 36,000 employees, this Matthews, North Carolina-based company is dedicated to enriching lives one meal, family, and community at a time.
