Okinawa Salt Journey at Odakyu Department Store

Odakyu Department Store in Shinjuku is rolling out a special gourmet event titled "Okinawa Salt Journey", which starts on July 22nd. This initiative is part of the Odakyu Okinawa Weeks supported by Orion, aiming to highlight the unique salt-based culinary culture of Okinawa amidst the sizzling summer heat.

The event will showcase over 20 original menu items crafted from the renowned "Aoi Umi" salt from Okinawa's Shimamasa Honpo across 19 food shops and one café within the food department. These exclusive offerings will feature a wide array of culinary delights, including baked goods, desserts, side dishes, and sushi, all enhanced by the exceptional flavors of Okinawa's sea salt.

What is "Aoi Umi"?

Aoi Umi is produced from seawater sourced from approximately 2000 meters off the coast of Ishigaki, Okinawa. It boasts a delicate sweetness besides its saltiness, making it an excellent addition to various cuisines, whether Japanese, Western, or Chinese.
