NCOA Opens New Grant for Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries' Support through Community Organizations

NCOA Announces Grant Opportunity for Community-Based Organizations

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is excited to announce a new grant initiative designed specifically for community-based organizations dedicated to enhancing the lives of low-income Medicare beneficiaries. This program aims to streamline the enrollment process and improve retention of critical health benefits for those who need them most.

Overview of the Initiative

Starting February 1, 2026, NCOA will provide funding ranging from $150,000 to $300,000 to selected organizations over a 30-month period. This grant is particularly aimed at assisting older adults and individuals living with disabilities in navigating the complex landscape of Medicare-related benefits.

The grant will allow organizations to adopt a person-centered approach to help low-income Medicare beneficiaries access essential services such as:
  • - Medicare Part D Extra Help (Low-Income Subsidy)
  • - Medicare Savings Program (MSP)
  • - Medicaid
  • - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Through this initiative, awarded organizations will assist clients in completing initial applications and recertifications to ensure they retain access to these vital programs.

Goals of the Grant Program

NCOA’s primary goal with this grant is to promote meaningful and lasting transformation in how older adults access benefits that are critical to their well-being. It aims to not only assist in the enrollment process but to empower beneficiaries to maintain their eligibility and access preventive health services covered by Medicare Part B.

By providing information on Medicare Preventive Services, the initiative seeks to foster a proactive approach toward health promotion and early detection of potential health issues. This, in turn, can lead to better health outcomes for seniors and adults with disabilities.

Eligibility and Application Process

Eligible organizations include state and community-based nonprofits, state agencies, tribal entities, and faith-based groups that are committed to serving older adults and those living with disabilities.
Applications for this grant must be submitted by December 1, 2025. Interested organizations are encouraged to download the Request for Proposals (RFP) to understand the scope of work and key deadlines in detail.

NCOA’s Commitment

Founded in 1950, the NCOA is committed to ensuring that every individual can age with dignity and security. By partnering with various organizations nationwide, NCOA provides numerous resources, tools, and advocacy efforts aimed at enhancing the well-being of older adults.

This grant opportunity not only seeks to create better access for low-income beneficiaries but also to facilitate a broader dialogue about the importance of comprehensive support systems for those aging in our communities.
