Link Engineering Company Achieves VCA Authorization for Brake Emissions Testing Certification
The Link Engineering Company (LINK) has announced a significant achievement for its Limburg, Germany laboratory by obtaining authorization from the UK’s Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA). This crucial approval allows LINK to conduct brake emissions type approval tests as part of the vehicle certification process under the new Euro 7 regulations.
This authorization empowers LINK to assist vehicle manufacturers in meeting these stringent Euro-7 requirements while further developing its capabilities in brake emissions testing. Leveraging its existing ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, LINK is now among the pioneer organizations accredited for brake emissions testing by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS).
The introduction of the Euro-7 regulations marks a pivotal shift in the automotive industry, as it brings forth the first limits on brake particle emissions. This necessitates that both vehicle and brake manufacturers possess specialized facilities, technical knowledge, and accredited testing capabilities to achieve certification under these new regulations. Currently, very few organizations globally have the requisite equipment, expertise, and recognized accreditations to support such programs.
By expanding its offerings to include certified type approval testing, LINK is positioning itself as a well-rounded partner for the global automotive and braking industries, providing customers with a comprehensive solution that spans from developmental testing to regulatory certification.
Marco Zessinger, Managing Director of Link Engineering Company GmbH, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, "Securing VCA approval underscores LINK's leading role in brake emissions testing. Manufacturers are facing new regulatory challenges under the Euro-7 standard and need testing partners with both technical excellence and recognized accreditation. Our Limburg facility can now carry out certified type approval tests, offering customers an optimized certification pathway and further solidifying LINK's position as a trusted industry partner."
