Pinnacle Solutions Secures $369 Million Contract for T-7A Training Program Modernization

HERNDON, Va. — November 12, 2025 – Akima, a prominent provider of mission-driven solutions to the federal government, has announced that its subsidiary, Pinnacle Solutions, has been awarded a critical Training Systems Acquisition IV (TSA IV) delivery order valued at $369 million by the U.S. Air Force. This exciting initiative aims to design, develop, and deploy the T-7A Maintenance Training System (MTS), integral to the Air Force’s cutting-edge training platforms. The duration of this contract is 7.5 years, contingent on the exercise of all options.

As the main contractor, Pinnacle Solutions will provide a comprehensive training solution that leverages advanced technological innovations. This includes implementing sophisticated training devices, modern smart classrooms, and interactive multimedia instruction. The foundation of the T-7A MTS will be Pinnacle's VXT© Core virtual training framework, which is engineered to provide immersive training experiences accessible through a broad spectrum of devices. This system incorporates high-fidelity models and utilizes virtual and augmented reality interfaces, along with haptic feedback technology, to enhance training effectiveness and ensure operational readiness.

Scott Rauer, President of Akima's Facilities Solutions Group, emphasized the significance of this win, stating, "This contract underscores Akima's ability to deliver advanced training and logistics capabilities at scale, meeting the evolving needs of the U.S. Air Force. Our expertise in immersive, mission-critical training ensures that maintainers will confidently support the T-7A program."

The T-7A MTS will prepare maintenance personnel for the next-generation T-7A Red Hawk aircraft, which is set to replace the aging T-38C Talon fleet. Pinnacle Solutions will collaborate with industry partners, including Aero Simulation, Inc., LSI, Inc., Textron Systems, and Janus Research Group, to utilize a ready ecosystem for the system's development and sustainment. Over the first three years, the focus will be on system development based in Huntsville, Alabama.

Following system development, training systems will be delivered to a Central Training Facility located at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph in Texas, along with four Unit Maintenance Training Facilities spread across Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. Once the systems are operational, Pinnacle will continue to provide essential Contractor Logistics Support, establishing the Training System Support Center to guarantee ongoing training readiness.
